Because they **** their pants every time Machida made a move and counted it as domination. Precisely in round 1, 2, and 5 Machida made those 3 second flurries. This type of perceptual distortion happens with real nuthuggers.

I had it 2-2 for round 5, then had it 3-2 for Rua. Machida's rounds were close though.

this was actually the first Machida fight i've seen. Before that it was only highlights. I'm far from a Machida nuthugger and was actually pulling for Shogun during the fight.

BUT in round 5 I thought Machida landed cleaner, harder shots. Specifically those 2 knees (head and body) that caught Shogun clean. Its hard to show in text but i've downloaded the fight and I will make some gifs later. I though Shogun was pretty ineffective in that final round and that Machida did more damage despite being more tired..

When the 4th round started, i told my friend I would bet him that Shogun will win the fight, even though I gave the first 2 to Machida. In the 3rd round Machida did a little 3 second flurry but it didn't win him the round in my eyes. Then Shogun took the 4th as well and I was sure he would take the 5th but in the end I thought he lost it. Since the first round was so close I told my friend that Machida would win by split decision.

When Machida rewatched the fight, he said he felt Shogun won the 5th round.

I scored 1-4 to Machida won the first 4 and Shogun won the 5th. How can you not give Machida the 3rd round, the 3rd round was the time a fighter was hurt the most, Machida almost Ko'd Shogun.

“I thought it was a very even and tough fight,” Machida said. “I had the opportunity to see the fight again and I thought I won four rounds and Shogun took the last one. Some people say he won the fourth and fifth round, but for sure I won at least the first three rounds. The American commentators were pretty much biased. If you see the fight without audio, you will probably see a different fight.

“Shogun was a great opponent and had a nice strategy. He deserves all my respect as a fighter, but I was superior. I had three or four chances to finish the fight, and he never put me in danger. I didn’t get (dazed) at any moment of the fight, but I put him in danger three or four times. He kicked my legs a couple of times, but he wouldn’t knock me out with that.”

Machida guaranteed that his disappointed expression immediately after the fight did not stem from a belief that he had lost.

“My leg started to hurt in the fifth round, and I was very upset that I couldn’t knock him out as I had planned,” Machida said. “I had two chances where I felt him really (dazed), but I lost it and I get really upset when I leave the decision in the judges’ hands.”

After confirming that he totally agrees with a rematch, Machida also addressed UFC President Dana White’s statement that he thought Shogun was the winner.

“Anyone who has a mouth can talk. I respect his opinion and I’m ready to fight Shogun or any other challenger UFC decides, but I would like to say that this fight was not judged by myself, my father or Anderson Silva,” Machida said. “This fight was judged by professionals, so I’m pretty much comfortable with the result.”

stop lying please, Machida almost Ko'd Shogun:lol::lol::lol:
If anything, its Shogun who landed the harder shot and HE shook Machida with his right hand.

in round 3 Machida looked impressive in that little flurry but i thought almost none of it landed clean. Apart from that Rua had the clear edge. I can post a gif of that too.

Machida hurt Shogun more than Shogun hurt Machida. The biggest problem for Shogun is he didnt land any hard shots, in the next fight Shogun has to hurt Machida.

Correction - in the next fight, Shogun has to KO Machida judging by that farce that 99% of people know was a bull**** decision.

The only guy that was hurt in that fight was Machida, to both body & legs.

Their shouldnt even be a rematch but since there is gonna be, I`ll stick with the same pick I made in the 1st fight, Shogun to win (again)

Shogun may need to throw in a few high kicks and maybe get Machida to the ground if he wants to win.

When was Machida hurt I didn't see it, i would like to know, i hae taken shots to the leg and body it only hurts for about 2 seconds, a punch to the face just does not go away.

Watch the second round without commentary and then watch it with commentary, its hilarious how bias Roagn is towards Rua, and Golberg repeats everything

You could tell by Machida`s reactions that he was being hurt by those shots, Shogun is one of the best Muay Thai kickers in all of MMA, he was definitely hurting Machida, no doubt.

Shogun is the superior striker & has better BJJ, I give Machida the wrestling advantage but whats he gonna do ? take Rua down & play BJJ ? Rua aint easy to take down either so its not as if Machida can hope to just build up points repeatedly with takedowns.

Machida was only so dominant because he had more talent than his other opponents, not the case vs Rua & it showed.

I hope Rua KO`s his ass in the rematch, better fighter & more entertaining.
