The most surprising one to me was Foreman's KO punch of Moorer, it seemed to come out of no where in slow motion and didn't look all that hard, and then BOOM Moorer goes down like he was shot. I remember being so surprised because it didn't look like anything special, it was almost a jab.
Bailey-Figueroa from recent memory, although neither of them is top-shelf it was a terrific shot. [YT]h12inie41zs[/YT]
Sigh, can't we dredge up actual lesser known examples? If I see "Hearns-Duran" cited one more time on this forum I'm going to go ****ing comatose. Takashi Koshimoto/Norwood was a frightening KO. Koshimoto took a face down nap on the canvas for several minutes Walcott style.
Jimmy Thunder vs the Terminator guy, can't remember his name. Vincent Pettway vs Simon Brown Juan Kid Meza vs Jaime Garza (Garza undefeated till this fight) Arturo Gatti vs Gabriel Ruelas (hated to se it, really liked Gab Ruelas) Mike Weaver vs Big John Tate (Tate way ahead, 45 seconds to go and never the same) Pinklon Thomas vs Mike Weaver, seemingly harmless punch to the forehead Carlos Palomino vs Davey Boy Green Danny Williams vs Kali Meehan (fight starts, William throw perfect 1-2, fight over) Kali Meehan vs Davarryl Williamson (Williamson sure knows how to be KOed in style) Joe Mesi vs Davarly Williamson (see above comment)
The perfect punch, surely the stand out for the #1 slot. Others in contention for a top 10 spot: Nunn/Kalambay Hearns/Duran Walcott/CharlesIII Cooper/ErskineIII
Crawford Grimsley. Butterbean/George Lindberger was beautiful too. Right hand to the body, left hook upstairs. Boom, 18 or 19 second first round knockout. Esch/Monaco was a frightening knockout as well.
Manny Pacquiao v Ricky Hatton Wilfred Benitez v Maurice Hope James Toney v Prince Charles Williams (personal favourite) James Toney v Jason Robinson Bernard Hopkins v Joe Lipsey (the other punches were meaningless, Lipsey was unconscious while vertical!) Rafael Marquez v Heriberto Ruiz Roy Jones v Virgil Hill (bit different) Nonito Donaire v Vic Darchinyan There's plenty more, but these are the ones that come to me now. These two aren't really one-punch KOs out of the blue like Tyson-Botha (a beauty) because the KO victim was already in bad shape, but I'm including it anyway as it was a one-shot finish and both were absolutely beautiful shots: Juan Manuel Marquez v Juan Diaz Manny Pacquiao v David Diaz And I'll throw in this one since I doubt that many people will have seen it, Nigel Benn v Anthony Logan, spectacular: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnYINturUvs[/ame]
I was there with my ol' man, it was a classic brawl. I do not like the saying lucky punch, because surely every bomb thrown by boxer is intended to try knock his opponent out? But that punch, was the closest I have ever seen to a lucky punch, Benn was gone. Logan never did get over it, as far as his boxing career went.
Hearns had some good one vs Pipino Cuevas and James Shuler and Duran, although the were set up by a previous combo.....Julian Jackson had some marvels, Terry Norris and others...SSR vs Fullmer and my favorites Marciano/Walcott 1 and Marciano/Layne
