how would George Foreman go against today's heavies?

Interesting how many favour Vitali although most of you think that he didn't fight the top crop.

 

If a 44 year old GF could go 12 rounds with a *prime* Evander and make it a close fight then I have no doubt that a Prime George would have little trouble with the current crop.

 

Vitali fight would be a toss up, he beats the rest

 

Vitali doesnt normally look to trade, he only did it with Lennox, lennox was loosing on the outside and forced his way inside so Vitali didnt have much of a choice. But he is pretty level headed and doesnt try to trade, he is actually pretty hard to hit. I am thinking George better go to the body, which he did against Chuvalo who had an amazing chin and proved once again the way to take out a guy with a good chin is to go to the body. Like Tito did with Mayorga ect.

 

The majority will be knocked out cold.

 

George is my favorite fighter of all time, but I disagree with most people here. He's not that good. Watch his limitations against Lyle. I think Vitali would KO him and many of the other ones mentioned would give him tough fights.

 

It's remarkable what Forman accomplished by coming back & wining by sensational KO over Michael Moorer in a fight he was losing badly.

That being said, Axel Schultz totally outboxed Forman & was robbed of the decision.

Tommy Morrison completely outboxed Big George.................

Foreman would do quite well for himself. The only fighters I'd pick to beat him would be the Klitschkos. I think the current Wlad would mess him up the worst by frustrating the hell out of George with the jab and unwillingness to put himself in harm's way. Wlad's speed advantage would be a big key in it.

 

Both Klitschkos have good/very good defenses, good/very good mobility and are experts at keeping their opponents at range. The other thing they're very good at is winning by attrition.
Young George was slow handed and had no stamina and Old George was slow, had no stamina and was immobile.
Both brothers have a good chance to just wear him down by making him move around the ring and miss...and he's certainly not going to outbox either one to a decision.

the rest of the fighter on the list lose badly by KO.

 

vitali has neither the agility nor reflexes to avoid foremans punches all fight long, VK fights very upright and stiff. if you think because VK's strategy was useful against sam peter, arreola, and gomez who aren't even 1/5 the fighter foreman was, then your sadly mistaken.

vitali looks slow because he is slow, he's flat footed, stands upright, and throws arm punches, not exactly the forumla or style of a speed demon.

this question can be answered almost too easily, because none of his opponents had speed. the vast majority of his opponents were fat plodders.

but ken norton was, and look what foreman did to him. now imagine someone who has half the speed, half the agility, and fights stationary. i.e. vitali klitschko, the only thing keeping vitali in this fight is his granite chin and determination. his punches just wouldn't hurt foreman.

thats because vitali fought lennox lewis on his worst day, he was uncoordinated and very sloppy. if anything lennox fought like an old foreman that fight, hardly reminiscent of the slick boxer with sniper like accuracy.

 

and the answer to that question is no, and to that first statement: michael moorer, nuff said.

 

Vit is just as quick as the old George tho I call a good fight but the smart George foreman demolishes vit
