is Joe Calzaghe the finest Britain has ever produced?

  1. Jeff your posts are negative and your points are utter bollocks. Guys you can hate all you want but remember that joe is undefeated and ring champ of two divisions, not 1 other brit has accomplished that feat. Period...

Ring Championships only mean anything because of WBO champs like Calzaghe who fights bum after bum... fighters like him devalued the belts enough so that the Ring Magazine title actually now has some sort of standing. Crazy. Anyhow my comments might be negative but their realistic unlike your drivel. Your knowledge may lead you to believe Calzaghe was one of the greats but that says more about you then Calzaghe kidda. Get reading.

Calzaghe's whole credibility is based on fighting (1) struggling controversial split decision win where he was knocked on his ass vs a 42 yr old that many still believe won the fight.

Defensively he might be but its a lot easier to look better defensively when that is his mindset. Calzaghe's offensive capability is superior to Lynch. Calzaghe had one of the best jabs of any British fighter ever, along with Buchanan and Lewis. Calzaghe could punch from any angle and then find some more, to head or body. That is why he could land on Hopkins more than anybody else, he could shortern his punches and find angles even against a master defensive fighter.

hard to believe his jab is better than Buchanans considering it was Buchs bread and butter and set up everything he did all this while engaging prime superior opponents with ATG speed and skills.

Surely without a better jab than Joe C he doesnt survive Laguna.

A southpaw's best punch is nearly always their jab.

  14. Jeff i respect you as a poster with your knowledge and also you dan, however guys you are wrong in thinking that calzaghe is overated and isnt the best in europe. I am willing to take all your stick but i stand by my opinion, as a fan of boxing for 15 years after watching my first fight at 7, i love all my brit fighters but calzaghe does it for me.

Hatton was one-dimentional and was too gung ho
    Naseem was humilated by barerra
    Khan no chin
Lennox fought the shot tyson rather than the decent tyson (prime tyson before he went to jail imo)
Benn couldnt beat collins or eubank
Eubank beat by calzaghe and thompson

Therefor with this simple logic you can reason with my opinion. Cant be bothered to post in defence againof calzaghe but guys he really was the best. Just a shame he didnt fight the names to prove it, i fancy him against b-hop in his prime and i fancy him against collins, ottke, mclennan and benn. The only fighter i believe would have beat calzaghe was jones jr...

This post must be a wind up..... especially the bit highlighted above.

Lewis was fighting the likes of Gary Mason for domestic titles by the time Tyson went to the slammer!

His wins over Ruddock and Bruno (in Bruno's best ring performance) eclipse pretty much all of Calzaghe's career. Not to mention beating a peak Klitschko as a fat, dis-interested old man ten years later.
