That was pretty funny!!!! For real!!!! I am with you on this one. Who ever said that Paquiaos defense if better than Clottey is a joke! Paquiao more powerful than Clottey...lol. Clottey is stong as a bull and his defense in unpenetrable almost impossible to get thru it that is why nobody want to fight him. He is too strong and a good boxer too. That was a very close fight but to Cotto's credit he wanted it more and he won, eye cut and everything.

When has his lateral movement helped him avoid getting hit? Watch the Marquez fights and tell me they helped him a great deal.

I f otto's defense was **** his last fight would hve ened by due to a cut. He's not a defensive genius but his defese improve with every fight, watch closer. All pacquiao does is in and out, until he gets tagged and goes crazy. Cotto has even added some of that shoulder roll into his arsenal.

    Erm, yes.

Clottey is not a puncher - surely this is a well known fact?

10 of his last 12 fights have gone the distance.

Actually watching the fighters/fights you are commenting on should be a prerequisite before starting a thread. :-(

i agree. pac has incredible strength for his size, and though clottey is accurate and stinging, i think the 2 might have comparable power, but pac has more speed and even accuracy.
THE big question for me is if cotto can hurt pac, not the other way around, because for sure if pac can ring a few off of cotto's head, he'll be feeling it.

Clottey has a good defence. But you make him sound like a cross between Pernell Whitaker and Superman.

And yeah, its pretty ****ing obvious that Pacquaio is more powerful than Clottey. Take a minute to glance over Clottey's record, he is not a puncher by any stretch of the imagination.

I disagree. I think the cut really bothered Cotto. I must agree with you on the fact that Cotto's defense isn't good he's a sucker for the uppercut and if he hasn't learned his lesson from the Margo fight of not retreating to the ropes or not strategically clinching then he will be in trouble. I also disagree with your gameplan for Cotto I actually think he needs to weather the Pac early storm and hope to break Pac down over the course of the fight behind a educated jab and a vicious body assault. Once you get past the first 5 or so rounds with Manny he becomes less dangerous and makes more mistakes and he can be outboxed more easily. Cotto has to take Manny to deep waters and drown him.

By this logic you clearly know **** about boxing. Clottey's STYLE doesnt rack him KO's...his inactivity and lack of a "killer instinct" doesnt allow him to follow up on a hurt opponent...but he hurts his opponents and is a pretty big puncher...not the biggest in the division. But to dismiss him as decent or feather fisted is stupid.

I'm not sure where you got this theory of Clottey being a big, strong, powerful puncher from. Its news to me. He's only stopped 2 of his last 12 opponents, and has a career KO ratio of just over 50%.

What evidence do you have to support this theroy of yours? :think

Head to head there is no ****ing way that Pac has more power, Clottey isn't a KO artist because unlike Pac he knows how to BOX. Do you honestly think that Pac would be knocking everybody out if he was fighting welterweights?

    Pacquiao's D>>>>>>>>>>Cotto's D

And Pacquiao is a bigger puncher than Clottey. Clottey is a big, strong welterweight but he isn't a puncher and he slaps with his punches. When was the last time he scored a knockout again??

We can only gauge Manny's power at 147 on the Hoya fight.

I think Clottey would have had a live shot at stopping Oscar that night also.

But this isn't really the issue. Whether or not a single shot off of Manny can hurt Cotto, his accuracy and his volume will definitely hurt him if Cotto isn't able to set the pace of the fight.
