David Haye vs Niko Valuev

Watch Barrett/Valuev. Barrett kept throwing the overhand right and it almost damn near lands every time, just lacks accuracy.
Dave will get in a few rounds boxing Valuevs ears off with lots of lateral movement, in and out of range throwing clusters. Then he'll start looking for his bread and butter punch which Barrett kept on throwing, that overhand right. When he realises he can land it almost at will, its all he'll throw. It may ruin his fight, but it could also end in a KO!

 

Valuev seems to have a very solid chin, though I've often been at pains to point out that he hasn't really been in there with genuine heavyweight punchers. McCline was the best, but that fight only went 3 rounds due to the freak ankle injury.

Now, I don't think Haye is the heaviest heavyweight puncher around but I do think he packs a genuine whallop, so it'll be interesting to see how Valuev reacts. It's not like it'll be a one-shot kayo but Haye has the speed advantage to land lots of shots and that could wear Valuev down.

Haye can't afford to stay in the clinch, Valuev is too big and heavy and it'll drain him. A stick 'n' move job, while keeping sharp for counter opportunities, would seem the best idea to me and in that respect I think a Haye UD seems more likely.

So long as Haye can handle the height and reach difficulties alright, that's my call, Haye UD.

 

I voted Haye to KO Valuev but I see a stoppage happening.

 

Haye to outbox and out work Valuev - probably ending in a one-sided points victory I reckon. Whether or not he'll be able to stop the 'Beast' remains to be seen, I certainly hope so though.

Any more news on the undercard for this one?

I understand your concerns Slip because i have same feelings but i still believe he will lift the WBA Heavyweight title come November. I just feel this fight is what he needs a fight where he knows he gotta be on the ball all fight and is up against it...Haye loves this type stuff. I also think tacitcally it's his fight but in saying that my two worry's are gassing after a onslaught or having a split second of recklessness and getting caught like in the Barrett fight. See even talking in one post im contradicting myself on Haye...he definatley makes you think

I'm struggling to imagine Haye winning this over there. Don't think he stops him and don't think that he can win on points by saving his energy coming in and out. Also I worry about the physical strength of Haye inside, Barratt looked to have the better of that in his only relevant HW fight. Going for Valuev on points.
