Just been watching the first few round of some of Cotto's fights and I've come to the conclusion that he's at least a step slower and more sluggish then he used to be.

Here's the first two rounds of the Mosely fight and the first part of the Clottey fight. Most of you here obviously have watch enough fights to come up with your own oppinoions but I think if you;re honest with yourself you can see cotto's a few steps behind were he used to be.

I don't think he sits down on his punches as much any more and he has generally "slowed" to an extent. I'm expecting something different against Pac as he looks to have trained very hard and has re-discovered some of his hunger.

You know what man. I love the guy and was crushed when he lost to margo. But I just don't think he's physically the same after the beating he took in that fight. And I doubt there is anything training harder is gonna do for him.

I mean don't get me wrong he doesn't look bad in either. I watch the Clottey fight and I think okay this guy's still good but then I watch the Mosely fight and it seems to me he's lost some snap or something.

Could it be that Clottey is not Mosley? It's a possibility...

A lot of fans have said that it's mostly a mental thing with Cotto now, but I think it's a physical thing as well. He's not as crisp or sharp in his movements and looks heavier on his feet

Look at the Cotto who fought Oktay Urkal and Carlos Quintana.

He looked MUCH slower than the guy who fought Shane Mosley. Explain that.

I think he showed he can still battle with a guy like Clottey and it was an improvement on his previous fight against Jennings. But I agree that he has been looking sluggish to an extent.

I just think Cotto fights according to his opponet, he had to be elctric against Mosley because Mosley is a fast brawler. He could relax in there a little against Clottey cuz it was going to be more of a chess match.

It is. Of course. This game is 90% mental after all. Cotto was riding a massive wave of confidence after getting past Judah and everybody else. He was very snappy and crisp when he answered the first bell against Margarito. That guy looked nothing like the guy who answered the first bell against Judah.

What your supposed to be looking for is the same thing that a few guys on this thread have said already and thats that Cotto just looks more sluggish then he used to. comparing these two fights is enough for me to see that.

Funny you mentioned the Judah fight. Cause confidence wise I would agree with you 100%. But one thing that I did noticed right away when I re-watching that openner was how well Cotto could suffle back/to the side to get away from the first few Jabs from Judah. Obviously we all know how he looked whe Jab connected and I won't disagree with you in that when his confience was riding high he did look like twice the fighter against Mosely but even still I'd still say he looked more smooth early on in that fight too.

Especially the Urkal fight. He actually looked kind of sluggish and heavy in that one.

You felt he was like that as well in the Quintana fight San'? I thought he looked pretty quick in that fight although it has been a while since i have seen it i'll have to check it out again.
