Have you actually seen the fight? :huh Only time he was possibly hurt was when Barrett hit him when he was on his back, even then Haye knocked him out 20 seconds later.
Haye was never seriously in trouble again Barrett, nor was he seriously hurt. Nonetheless, he took a few too many punches against Barrett - Haye could have been more dominating by neutralizing Barrett. He should have taken ZERO punches from a journeyman like Two Gunz, Haye boxed too open IMO and took too much risk when he could have taken no risk and still knocked Barrett out. I understand Haye was under pressure to look spectacular and it showed. Solis did a better job, not as entertaining a fight but much more dominating. Barrett was completely helpless, without even being given a hint of a chance to land anything.
When Barrett fought Valuev he did a pretty good job of staying inside Valuev's punches. Eventually Barrett was just overwhelmed by the giant and his punches didn't seem to hurt Valuev at all, but the fact remains that he was able to avoid getting hurt by Valuev until the late rounds when his stamina finally started to fade.
Haye trying to smother Valuev would look like a small child trying to smother me....he'd get manhandled, leaned on or pushed away. He cannot stay in there long enough for Valuev to do this and the more he tries it the more chances he gives Nico to use his size and strength on him. That is a huge man I might add. Once Haye gets inside he needs to pick a few short explosive shots to fire off(a majority to the midsection to set up one or two upstairs), then EXIT STAGE RIIIIGHT to force Valuez to turn and reset. NEVER should he pull straight out because he'll back right into the tail end of a big shot. And for the love of everything sacred DON'T WRESTLE with him, you'll get wore out quick. It'd be like trying to slow dance with a refrigerator. This is a very challenging fight for Haye and his mouth put him here. He better be up to the challenge. And as difficult as Valuev could be for him, either Klitschko is thrice as much challenging........especially the raging juggernaut of Ukranian political debates Vitali
Exactly. There's pros/cons. Stamina could be more an issue, but he has less of a risk of getting hit with a bomb from the outside. Ruiz, Chageov, Barret all fought this way. Holyfield was on the inside and came in to bang with him. That method works too, but Holyfield has much superior defense/lateral movement.
Haye won't clinch and try and survive, not in a million years. He will try take Valuev out like he does everyone he fights. Anyone thinks he would get credit for doing a 'Floyd' all night and taking no risks? He would get slated to ****!
I think thats a key. If Valuev starts resting that 300+ lbs all over Hayes back when haye gets inside, I think it will drain Haye bigtime. Haye must get in and get out quick which also could be an issue. Trying to stick and move for 12 rounds will take stamina, something haye needs to improve.IMO
