As far as whats on paper he's undefeated. Back in reality he's far from it. Of course this is just my opinion. Intersted to see if people still have strong views on this.
See the funny thing here is that people who haven't seen his fight perticuly the Reid one will asume you are exagerating. Unfortunatley we know better!
You're all exagerating The reid fight was appalling no question but tell me the other shocking robberies that took place. he wasn't exciting and he didn't travel but then none of the big name SMW of his era did either. I was no fan but the wayt some people go on you would think ottke took pasting aft3er pasting and escaped with the decision, its simply not the case
Yea but... Joe Calzaghe vs. Sven Ottke 12 Round Light Heavyweight Bout (With Bernard Hopkins @ Ringside)
Mads Larsen, Byron Mitchell and Charles Brewer. And thos are just the bad ones! I am not trying to say that this guy lost every fight. I am however saying he is far from undefeated. By far the most baffling thing about his career is how he got 6 knockouts! The mundine ko was truely shocking. I think he just fainted when he realised that ottke had just hut him. He hadn't noticed previously.
Ottke was the worst fraud, ever. It is poetic justice this guy got caught cheating on his wife, she divorced and took all his money. I read an article a year or two ago where he said he basically lost 90% of his wealth.
Not only that she literally knocked him out! No joke she did. So turns out the reason the phantom was never prepared to fight was because autoglass sponsored his chin!
The funny thing to me is that one corrupt fight is turned into declaring Ottke as a total bum who had a gift decision every time he fought. The fight against Reid wasn't any more corrupt than Lewis - Holyfield. Ottke was in a few close fights where he got the nod, the term robbery should be reserved for a fight when one fighter dominates and loses the decision. Ottke was a decent fighter, good amateur, for someone who turned pro at age 30 his career wasn't bad. Nobody mistakes him for an ATG, so why the hatred?
