How can you bring up Anthony Logan in terms of who would come out on top between Benn and Jackson?

That was a green Benn who was only used to blow outs.

The Benn that fought Logan gets iced by Gerald McClellan.

 

Prime for prime is a tough 1 and would be a true humdinger, with bangers like these 2 its hard to pick a winner when both are very hittable. I say they both hit the deck but Benn's speed/strength/combinations at mid/close range make the difference and he pulls it out.

Nigel Benn stopped fighting at 160 in 1991. He had the run in with Logan in October 88. Julian Jackson's first fought above 154 was in May of 89, only 7 months later. The only weight they could possibly fight at was 160, since Jackson never went higher.

So they would most likely have fought somewhere between May of 89 and October of 91, when Benn left the weight for good. During that time, Benn had only four fights with notable opposition, against Eubank, Watson, Barkley and DeWitt, and he was TKO'd by both Eubank and Watson.

Being as Benn fought Logan just 7 months before Jackson first started flirting with the middleweight division, and that Benn didn't show real improvement in his game until he went up to 168, I find it pretty easy to hold performances like Logan against him.

 

Well he made improvements to beat Barkley and Dewitt and against Eubank he may have lost but he looked much improved. The Logan performance wasnt that bad, Logan was a top domestic prospect and Benn took him out in 2, hurt or not the way he rallyed was impressive

 

Benn had way better hand speed. He also had the better chin. I am surprised so many of you think Jackson had better boxing skills too. But regardless Benn would stop him 4 out of 5 times.
