is Joe Calzaghe the finest Britain has ever produced?

  1. Totally agree with your points, but i his most famous win was over tyson, yet tyson was shot, yet calzaghe best b-hop and gets slated. How is this fair??? to be fair mate i dont give lennox the credit he deserves out of love for tyson. sorry mate i know i should give him mor credit:good

Tyson is his most famous win, I agree - but the most significant was certainly Holyfield.

I think a lot of people saw it (Lewis-Tyson) as a 'battle of the best heavies of the 1990's' - blatantly ignoring the fact that Tyson had been destroyed by Holyfield once, and fouled himself out to save being crushed again.

    Lewis
    Holyfield
    Tyson/Bowe

But in terms of his BEST wins - Tyson doesn't even come close to cracking the top 10. If he hadn't gotten sloppy and lost to Rahman the fight would most likely never have happened!

Did Calzaghe beat Hopkins though....... :hey

    :good

  3. Totally agree, Lennox has best resume of any brit boxer without a doubt and he unified the heavyweight titles by beating elite talent rivals. However Lennox got ko'd on his off nights (granted he avenged them) but calzaghe managed to grind out the win on his off nights and this is why i rate him so highly.

Calzaghe's biggest problem is the same as Mayweather biggest problem, They worry too much about their 0. They should have risked more against other names and tested themselves in fights where they would have been the underdog for example Calzaghe vs Jones(prime) Mayweather vs Williams at light middle.

If calzaghe does not rate as best brit off all time, then the winner must be Lennox, no other comes close to those pair...

For Me Calzaghe was a great boxer but not Britains finest.
I think he put too much emphasis on protecting his 0. Also If and old RJJ and BHOP were able to put him on his ass I think a Prime RJJ and BHOP could have gone 1 further.

How many times will people regurgitate the same old lines before realising Roy Jones hit him with his arm and not a part of the glove. Roy Jones never hurt him once with a legal punch.

Hatton was one-dimentional and was too gung ho- Calzaghe either windmilled or stood off and slapped.

Naseem was humilated by barerra Calzaghe would have been humiliated had he fought Jones or Hopkins closer to their prime

    Khan no chin

Lennox fought the shot tyson rather than the decent tyson (prime tyson before he went to jail imo) ha ha ha

Benn couldnt beat collins or eubank After beating Mclellon

Eubank beat by calzaghe and thompson At the end of his career.

    Your having a laugh

Calzaghe is blatently a mile ahead of anything else these shores have produced.

So exceptional I'll go on record as saying "There will never be as an effective boxer as Joe Calzaghe, not until the introduction of 'designer babies' into society with their perfect, selected genes."

 Why would I envy Calzaghe and not Lennox Lewis, Ray Robinson, Oscar De La Hoya or any other fighter in the world you tool? Are you people that thick that you can't accept when someone doesn't share the same opinion as you. Muppet.:D

Conteh had ability in spades but that means very little if your idea of training is getting drunk and chasing girls. Now conteh with dedication could have been something very special.
