is Joe Calzaghe the finest Britain has ever produced?

It hasn't but saying that I wasn't too bad. Better then most journeyman. Talent wise I did well and considering I didn't have the physical advantages other fighters had. Remember I stilll was good enough to give good fighters like Steve Murray, Ricky Burns and Lee McAllister a bit of a scare :good

Also Thorpey, Carl Allen, Peter Allen and Peter Buckley were still in good form when I beat them. I'm no Calzaghe clan world beater but I was pretty decent and could have done lots if i'd been trained properly.

    Might do more yet.

Robbie Regan, Steve Robinson, Dean Phillips, Nicky Piper, Big Enzo and Damian Owen were big favourites of mine. I'm totally not anti welsh. And my surname really is Thomas, :D

I'll never have a pop at your record mate, and I wish you every success as a trainer.

Just pisses me off when people bring your record into it and imply Joe was better than you so you should bow down to him.

Happens every debate and is nonsensical.

  8. I was simply implying he would bite his hand off to have calzaghes record and status. Jeff im so think at the age of 22 i earn 28k a year. pretty thick mate to be fair thats why i have A grades at a level, just thick not to believe your bile. Anyway ive simply had enough, fair play to you in what ever your doing and god bless, but seriously mate i never said you were anti welsh. I just implied many on the forum were, read back and you will realise...

Clearly not A level in written english. You called me a journeyman you tit- personally insulted me because I critisised a fighter you liked.

28k a year. Well done I was on more then that at 18:good give yourself a pat on the back but what you earn is hardly an indication of your intelligence. You weren't able to distinguish between an insult and a critism! That makes you thick in my book.

Been 22 probably explains why you've got such an uncontrollable hard on for Calzaghe. You know nothing about the sport in general and can't formulate a decent argument on a pretty simple topic where I seem to be in the minority. At least to those who care enough to comment.

Is that a good idea though? It come's across just as extreme as the nutters who think he's the greatest ever from these shores.
I've been posting here about 5 years so I know your not a 'hater' of any fighter in particular but someone new to this forum will probably come to the wrong conclusion and unfortunately assume that your a troll.

Not that its all bad being a troll. I often find it quite stimulating. Especially when the Klit boys are involved.:D

I wish sometimes there could be some good constructive debate on fighters such as Calzaghe where the idiots on either side could stay out of it.

He has some nuthuggers who go over the top no doubt (personally I don't believe I'm one of them despite what some may think) but he definitely has some idiots who are just haters also (naming no names :D)

I would say liberal use of the ignore option might improve things.
I overdid it however and now my ignore lists longer than a whales ****.

To be honest there has been loads of debate on Calzaghe but you get an idiot on every thread. MrPlow (someones alias), HOF (Calzaghe's best mate) and now this newb who grew up watching Calzaghe and thinks the guys untouchable.

The way I look at it is Ive watched a lot of boxing. I'm not biased against any fighter and Calzaghe is one of the greatest British talents of all time, but from a spectators POV he had a poor career. It was largely dull to watch, didn't capture the imagination and he avoided most of the decent opposition he could have faced! This is FACT!!! I remember every fighter who was around his weight and I know that the division was a wasteland which led to Calzaghe occupying the top spot once Ottke retired.

When someone tries to paint the picture that he was an unbeaten, all conquering hero who faced every possible challenge known to man and drilled out incredible result after incredible result then I have to say something. It would be an injustice to all the true greats not to say something.

Name one incredible result on JC's ledger.

    Chavez beat Rosario

Jones Jnr trounced Toney and decimated every decent contender in the division like Tony Thornton, Sosa, Brannon etc

    Hopkins beat Trinidad

De La Hoya cut ribbons out of Chavez

    Mayweather beat Corrales

    Toney beat Nunn

These were true greats doing what they should have done against top opposition.
