Mcguigan: “Froch (right) moaned about Dirrell’s negativity. It is for him to find a way around that. He didn’t do that on my card.” If Froch was unhappy with Dirrell’s boxing style, he should have found a way to defeat rather than resorting to fouling. I didn’t see any plan B from Froch, aside from the fouling that he started in the 5th round. Normally, that kind of thing would have been nipped in the bud right there by an assertive referee.

“I believe Dirrell will box the ears off Abraham and storm back into contention,” Mcguigan says. I completely agree with you. I’ve been saying the same thing recently. Abraham is going to get a major boxing lesson against Dirrell. Abraham will probably foul as well, unfortunately. He likes to throw elbows when he punches and he tends to land a rabbit shot every now and then, although not on the level of what Froch was doing against Dirrell. Abraham is too slow and limited and doesn’t throw enough punches to beat a world class fighter like Dirrell.

Abraham is quicker than Froch. Also despite the fact I had Dirrell winning people are starting to make it sound like a blow out and it was nothing of the sort.

Dirrell was caught a few times by Froch cleanly, I am confident that Abraham who is a bit quicker and a lot more accurate will catch him and put him to sleep at some point.

Abraham's a better boxer than Froch, and will probably get to Dirrell. Can't see Dirrell winning.

Barry prediction are not usually too far off the mark. Dirrell on points might be worth a punt.

It was a clear victory. It wasnt a blow out per se, but the class difference was apparent, if Dirrell had stepped on the gas earlier I doubt Froch would have seen the bell.

Abraham is a better boxer then Froch. Both defensively and prolly more power aswell. But he gives away the first 6 rounds of all his fights it seems. Against Taylor he gave away 4 rounds and all Taylor did was shoot that pitiful jab. If he gives away alot of rounds to dirrell early, he'll be in trouble because he'll have to chase Dirrell to get the KO.

Clear victory for Dirrell on my card. I'm confused at anyone seeing Froch get seven rounds.

Abraham is not a better boxer than Froch.

How does standing straight up and relatively squared up with a high guard and absorbing punches constitute as "good boxing?"

Froch has underrated boxing skills. He's isn't the most athletic guy in the world, is sometimes a big gunshy, and is off balance when he's in fighting, but overall, he's not a bad technician.

Abraham is the defenition of a slugger. He's a guy that doesn't move that much, conserves his energy, comes straight foward, and wants to knock you out with every punch he throws.

If Dirrell had Ward's heart and fortitude he should easily be able to win this fight, but he didn't show any signs of heart and the will to win in his fight with Froch, and his lack of experience caused him to make mistakes that will cost him against a guy like Abraham who is relentless and absolutely not gun shy when he has his man cornered.

But due to those factors just mentioned, especially Dirrell's lack of experience, chances are, he's going to be knocked out in the later rounds, while comfortably ahead on the scorecards.

Then again, he may not even be that far ahead. Abraham is often reluctant to throw and may just be content in making Dirrell work by constantly running, without throwing many punches to get himself tired.

I see ways that Dirrell could take advantage of this, and if he's smart and brave will, but I doubt that will happen. And if he runs it will make him that more tired that much quicker.

Will Abraham allow him to hold when he does get tired?

If I were to sit down in front of the TV, and watch a mere prospect take Abraham's zero, I would probably get a boner. However, I don't think Dirrell is the man to bet on.

I do think that the first time Abraham runs into a decent boxer/puncher who has a good chin, and can think on his feet, he is going to get knocked out inside 8 rounds. Dirrell is not a boxer/puncher. He tries to play the cute boxer, but his balance is so terrible he can't really pull it off. He also appears to have a relatively low boxing IQ. The 2nd or 3rd time he makes a big mistake, BANG, fight over.

Abraham absorbs few punches. Most punches land on his gloves. Thus his exellent guard.

Technically Froch is horrible. You just said it yourself, he is often off balance, and is too easy to hit on the noggin. He had his chin cracked by both Dirrell and Taylor. That is not a fluke. Its because he leaves his chin exposed in the air to often, because he thinks he's Roy Jones Jr fighting with his hands at his waste.

Abraham is a slugger when he has the opening, usually in the later rounds. But from rounds 1-10 in the Taylor fight, Abraham was very methodical with his punch selection. Mostly outjabbing Taylor, with a few hooks thrown in. Only when Taylor was already broken to peaces did he pour the pressure on, and no, he's not fluid with his punches, but with his defense and his power, he rarely has to be.

Froch's "power" is overrated at not near Abrahams.

I thought he showed plenty of will to win in rounds 10-12, which he won handily. He could have poured it on sooner, and probably should have, but he was outjabbing Froch all night stacking up rounds, and probably was conserving his energy for the championship rounds. Nobody can control getting robbed.

What mistakes did he make? The only mistakes he makes his lowering his hands while backing up, much like Ali used to. His grandfather was a sparring partner from Ali, and im sure thats where he gets it from, but 99% of the time he makes the guy miss anyway, much like he made Froch miss all night. Abraham has more power so he should be alot more wary, but in terms of vicious onslaught, he wont have to worry, thats not Abrahams game. Much like how everyone thought that was froch game, and I said it wasnt. Stop projecting styles these boxers clearly dont have. Abraham is not a pressure fighter, which plays int Dirrells hands.

I doubt that. Dirrell dominated the championship rounds against Froch, despite his lack of experience", so I fail to see how it'll effect him in Madison Square Garden, where he wont have to worry about getting robbed,.

I had Froch one point up from a pretty good seat in the arena.

Need to watch the fight again on TV to have another look. Most people sat near me had Froch winning easily.... like 116-111!
