I just read that Bert Sugar has Roy Jones 88th on his greatest fighters list

    25) Ray Leonard

Any list with Leonard not even making the top10, let alone top20. Isn't worth it

OK then compare SRL's resume to Roy's. If SRL is top 20 then Sugar has it about right with Roy at 88 or whatever.

Nah, i'm not even playing devil's advocate for the list, and the one fighter i've mentioned especially was Dempsey.

I was having a discussion about Jones's ranking, specifically.

I don't have Ray Leonard in my top 10. I think I had him around 14th last time. Leonard is a top 5 of all-time on ability, but I have real problems trying to justify a top 10 placing considering his lack of longevity. History's top 10 IMO should be reserved for men who proved their worth in many fights over many years, spanning different decades and/or eras. Leonard had a handful of top quality wins, but he had something like 12 world title fights, and didn't win them all. If you set that against the careers and accomplishments of men like Robinson, Greb, Langford, Charles, Ali, Duran, Pep, and Benny Leonard, I find it difficult to put SRL in the same tier despite his truly fantastic career highs.

In that hundred years though, Danny, THE heavyweight title became FOUR heavyweight titles...Roy got Ruiz's fraction. Impressive, no doubt, but that statistic of the first middleweight to win A heavyweight title in such and such a time is pretty misleading to people.

Seriously, who the **** did Marciano beat? Over-the-hill Charles, Walcott, and Louis?

Who did Marciano beat that was any where close to prime and elite?

Rocky Marciano is probably the most overrated HW Champ in history, and Jones would be slightly taller with a much longer reach.

Seriously, tell me how Marciano is gonna knock out a prime Roy Jones? I've watched both of them, and I can't see a single thing that Marciano does that'd he be able to do to a prime Jones.

Jones would make him look stupid.

So far jones has failed to avenge his losses to Antonio Tarver, Glen Johnson and Calzaghe and only fought at heavyweight once against a paper champion . . . but he's still fighting so maybe he can improve his legacy

:verysad Jones Jr is not a top 20 guy.

I'm befuddled. Michael Spinks and Marco Antonio Barrera not in the top 100?

All he would have to do is land one punch and it s lights out for Jones. And he would land one punch. Who in the hell did Jones fight that had Marcian's power and Chin? Nobody because he avoided anyone that could punch. And we all know why too.

The hilarious thing is Mike Spinks would most likely knock Jones out.
