Sally, I've read copies of the Mount Alexander Mail from the 1850s & 60s where the term is used. My home town was in the middle of the gold rush and at one stage was bigger than Melbourne (now 10,000 people). I've studied my home citys history extensively. Trust me, the term has been around much longer than the 1950s. And believe me, I hated having to agree with luds on this one item.

the fact of the matter is, it is southern europeans that are defined as wogs, not asians. europeans are not orientals. keep it in context. the australian use of the word wog is of southern europeans, not asians, lebs, turks, indians, pakis, etc, etc.

It wasn't. It was used a hundred years earlier. Thats all. Thats my point. I didn't **** up history. Nor did I try and change it.

My understanding of the word initial would be the first or shall we say, the initial time it came to being. Now I'm not a history major, but I reckon 1850 occured before 1950.
