Sorry but in order to get a win over Paul your going to have to be able and willing to get inside and mix it up, a fighter as small as Floyd that is his only shot and we all know Floyd doesnt fight on the inside and mix it up.. Pauls size, and south paw stance would keep Floyd on the outside all night and Floyds little cross over defense will not work against someone that tall.
Williams is a nightmare for PBF especially at 154. At 147 I think he would be somewhat drained as not having fought there in years. Williams while active throws alot of inaccurate and wasted punches he will have problems with PBF's speed, movement and counters I would favor PBF at 147 and Williams at 154.
i know im probably one of the few, but i dont really even care to see this fight... theres too many other fights to be made Mayweather vs Cotto Mayweather vs Mosley are the two fights that should be happening..... id rather see Mayweather fighting guys who are legit welterweights and whove been his rivals now for a long time, williams... ya he can make 147, but he stands eye to eye with chris arreola and is challenging pavlik for the middleweight throne..... i dont really want to see it, and im not so sure mayweather would lose to him eather, though it def would be one of his harder fights. But theres too much a size differance for me to want to really crave that fight..... not when fights like mosley and cotto are there to be fought.
Can PW even make 147 though? At 154 and higher, probably...but I don't know about 147. Either way, Floyd is likely gonna fight Ricky Hatton anyway, so it doesn't make any difference.
He might be drained at 147 now, your right about that, but even if he wasnt drained, he does throw alot, sure inaccurate, However he throws enough to keep you defensive, and scores here and there.... In other words he creates openings, Floyds speed will not be a problem, Williams has a good jab and he will use it, his movement wont be a problem Williams can stay dead center in the ring and make Floyd come to him, why chase him when you dont have to....?
Williams has the physical advantages that could drawf Mayweather and negate Mayweather's advantages in speed, accuracy, and defense, as the way to beat someone with great defense is to throw punches in bunches. However, I have trouble believing that someone with such a high ring IQ in Mayweather would not fight in a way that would give him a victory, as he is much more adaptable than Williams. The way to beat Williams is to circle, have a tight guard, and when you do throw- throw with power. There is no doubt in my mind that Mayweather CAN do this and Williams will undoubtedly be open since he throws so many shots. I think to say that Mayweather can't doesn't like to fight on the inside would ignore his body of work, especially his bouts with Jesus Chavez, Carlos Hernandez, Phillip NDou, DeMarcus Corley, Zab Judah, and portions of the Oscar de la Hoya and Castillo bouts. His picks fighters apart when he fights on the inside. With that being said, I do not know who I would favor in this bout, there are great arguments that can be made on both sides without the usual shortsighted arguements of this guy's scared, a punk, a *****, etc...
Lets not forget how good Mayweather is though, and although he avenged it about as good as you can, Williams WAS outboxed effectivly by Quintana, with accurate counter punching, good footwork, movement and defence. I see no reason Mayweather couldnt replicate that and add to that. Williams had an off night, yes.... but Mayweather is also levels above Quintana in almost every catagory. I do not see a beating in store for Mayweather... hes too good. I do think Williams could win this fight, as i do think Mayweather could as well. I have the fight pretty even, though if i had to put money on it id probably go with williams activity and size to squeek it out.
PTP would simply walk through Floyd's best shots all the while continuously throwing and landing punches of his own. PTP by late stoppage.
Paul would be a tough matchup for Floyd, but he wouldn't batter him. Floyd is just too good for that. And you don't have to get inside to beat Williams, just look at the first Quintana fight. Incidently though, Williams does have a habit of letting smaller fighters get inside on him. If Floyd did fight Williams on the inside, Williams would be in trouble. If Williams stayed with that jab and kept Floyd at bay, it's a different story. Floyd could still win, but obviously Williams would be at an advantage.
Willliams is not a big puncher, and Floyd has never been close to being stopped. Williams winning by stoppage is highly unlikely.
