Ali. Its a cliche but he used to spar to iron out his weak points rather than work on the stuff he knew he was good at.

Aaron Pryor used to struggle in sparring but then turned into what he was on the night - an animal, a "Hawk".

disagree Ruben was winning but Alexis was making it competive and a close fight it was not Alexis getting outboxed. Very good figth actualy.

Yeh Ruben was like Duran he probably said that stuff and meant it at the time but afterwards he thought you was a great guy

Great quote. Charlie Nash once took liberties with a 16-year-old Barry McGuigan in sparring but when McGuigan turned pro with a routine stoppage win in 1981 in Dublin, Nash, topping the bill, wound up suffering a brutal, brutal knockout defeat.

Tyson got floored in sparring a couple of times and you'd hear stories of him struggling now and then though he did bash up a lot of sparring partners.

    Holy from 95 onwards yes.

Benn never used to spar and didn't look great in the few videos i saw of him.

The first big Brit fight I ever remember as a kid was Nash-Watt, I think it got a lot of press because of the religous angle?

Watt never looked better, even though Nash scored a flash knockdown in the first. Harry Mullan, a Derry man like Nash, cried when he heard the result on the flight to Minter-Antuofermo in Las Vegas from the pilot.
