Twice as hard? Seriously. Cotto seems to think if he hits pac with a hard shot the fight is his.

P4P wise Morales and Mab hit harder then Cotto.

If Pac can bring up his speed and power, he can possibly bring up his chin resistance as well.

MOrales and MAB are not P4P harder punchers then Cotto. Marquez is a sharper and crisper and more dangerous puncher then him P4P. P4P they are all greater fighters then Cotto, but Cotto bangs harder then EM and MAB.

Cotto at 147 does not hit harder than Marquez at 130, pound-for-pound.

But obviously Cotto, being a prime welterweight, will hit harder than anyone Pac has faced in reality.

Pity he won't be landing much.

Plus, he fought Cotto at 140. I don't think Cotto's as devastating a puncher @ 147. His handspeed slowed, diminishing his punching power.

Are you sure about that one? Marquez was pretty squidgy even at 135. Bring up the Casamayor and Diaz KO's if you want, but I've never thought of JMM as a big puncher. Cotto definitely is.

Anyway, it's not really about pound for pound, because Pacquiao's stepping in against a Welterweight on November 14, so Welterweight comparisons have to be made.

Who gives a **** about P4P power. Cotto hits much harder than anyone Manny has faced. Period. As if P4P is relevant, and as if there is any real measuring stick to prove that. But what is clear, is that Cotto is a big strong dude that punches harder than anyone Pac has faced. Harder than that De La Hoya, and definitely harder than Hatton.

The problem with the P4P comparison is Pac is actually going to be getting hit by the 145lb Cotto. Not the power Cotto possess relative to MAB's power at an equal weight. This is who hits harder Cotto or MAB/Morales and it's a fairly easy answer...The 145lb Cotto hits harder.

Some of you also seem to be under the false impression that no matter Cotto's strength he will not be able to hit PAC because of his superior speed. To think a professional fight is going to take place betweeen two agressive fighters and one fighter is going to finish the fight not having been hit is foolish. Even a 20% connect rate with an average amount of punches thrown in a WW fight still amounts to atleast 7-10 shots landed per round. To think one of those punches couldn't do the trick is crazy.

This is the key. P4P comparisons are irrelevant here. Cotto is going to hit Pacquiao harder in absolute terms than anyone has.

Why wouldn't P4P matter? Think about this:

If you weigh 126, and box a guy whom is 126 that is considered as a HUGE PUNCHER then your really going to feel it.
If you fought the same guy, but meanwhile your 146 now...Your 20 pounds heavier, and thus you should be able to take a better punch from the smaller man.
SO, if your 145, and your opponent is 145 (EVEN) it's the same damn thing as somebody weighing 126, and fighting 126! That's where you get P4P from!

I do believe Cotto hits pretty hard, BUT not as hard as people say. He mainly hits hard because he's a naturally big WW. Pac hits hard because he has massive leg power, great strength, and blazing speed. **** hurts a lot more when you can't see it coming...

Your capacity to take a punch increases slower as you move up in weight than the punching power of your heavier opponents. Pacquiao may be a bit tougher at 145 than at 130, 135, 140 etc., but Cotto won't just punch a bit harder but much harder.
