Nobody with a brain believes for one second that Mayweather got 8 million to fight Baldomir.

The figure 8 million was thrown out as being what Mayweather's purse would be because at that time, Mayweather had turned down an 8 million offer to fight Antonio Margarito.

.....so in order to not look like he was ducking Margarito, or have to explain why he turned down 8 million to fight him, Joe Goosen who at the time promoted Mayweather was being hounded and pressed as to what Mayweather's purse against Baldomir would be.....
.....Goosen could'nt take the hounding and made up a figure that it would be 8 million+........
When Goosen was further questioned where he would get that type of money as the projected PPV buys for a Mayweather-Baldomir fight would'nt justify an 8million payday for Mayweather......Goosen went on to say, he'd take a loss if he had too as an investment for future Mayweather fights.....

.....as we know, Mayweather dumped Goosen and went solo.......co-promoting his mega-fight with DLH with GBP.

I do know one thing for sure.....Goosen who was dumped as Mayweather's promoter, surely did'nt get 8 million from him without commiting himself to further promotional fights with Goosen.

The 8 million that was said Mayweather got paid was just a figure that was thrown out there to shut up the media who were on Mayweather's tail for ducking Margarito.

the PPV did around 380 000, so 12 million seems a little over the top. 8million sounds about right for the fight

Did he leave Goosen right after the Baldomir fight?

Mayweather going to GBP was a smart move on his part, cause i think if he would of stayed with Goosen instead, he wouldn't be bigger paid

    dunno.

If did 325K, nowhere to justify an 8 million payday for Mayweather.

I believe the Baldomir fight was the only fight Goosen promoted on behalf of Mayweather......back then I had read articles that stated that the only way Goosen could even fathom paying Mayweather 8 million for Baldomir was if Mayweather signed a long term deal with him and that Goosen would just take whatever loss that came from the Baldomir fight as an investment to keep Mayweather for future megafights with the likes of DLH, Margarito, Cotto, etc......

.......that did'nt happen, so I'm certain whatever Mayweather got paid for Baldomir was never in the vicinity of 8 million.

.....and of course he made the fight choice to let GBP promote him on a fight by fight basis (not long term) .....making that choice guaranteed him 12 million+ a % of the PPV against DLH, which at the end totalled in excess of 20 million.

DLH btw made out making well in excess of 30 million for his fight with Mayweather.

8 million seems too much to justify those numbers but it is reachable, Baldomir would of had to only be getting less than 12% of the purse though.

and considering the undercard was crap the money is practically there for everything to go to the main event only

Why does he have to lie all the time. It's getting ridiculous. He's making himself look like a fool with all these lies.
