beating roy jones wont mean anything at this point. Beating Dawson would be very impressive

He's already recognized as the best middleweight since Hagler, who is considered the greatest middleweight ever.

His legacy is cemented. 20 defences and oldest middleweight champion in history.

Also, Calazghe didn't smash a prime Hopkins. First of all, Calzaghe didn't even decisively win and was knocked down by a 40+ guy with no knockouts in 4 years. Second of all, Hopkins is nowhere near prime. It's amazing how he's still going and beating 35-0 guys at 44 years old.

    :deal

    Didn't decisively win:patsch

he was more accurate, more aggressive, more output, landed more jabs, more power shots, and more punches, what did Hopkins do? cheat, spoil and cry.

Hopkins was never about speed or power, but experience, at 43 he was maxed on experience, and p4p3... today, but for Pac and mayweather, he would be p4p 1.

calzaghe also fought on Hopkins home turf, he moved up in weight, and fought outside of Britain for teh first time, add to that the very biased ref, and the fact one judge was a distant relative of Hopkins, then he smashed a prime Hopkins.:deal

No. Hopkins is old as ****. Ask most people on here and they'll give it to Calzaghe by a small margin, and some will give it to Hopkins too. He won a close fight. Not near a smashing.

I think we can all agree that it was a ****ing **** fight.

People percieve Hopkins as winning, because they guessed he landed more shots, this was proved completely inaccurate by the stats, Joe landed more of everything and had a much larger out put.

Joe was no spring chicken himself, and Hopkins pulled out of a prime calzaghe.

Hopkins has only ever beaten up on blown up ww's, Calzaghe is a class apart from Hopkins.

As I said, Hopkins would be the worlds best were it not for Pac and mayweather, 2 people that are ATG's, he is as prime today as he ever was, he hasn't lost any speed, or power, and his experience is what sets him apart, hes a wiser fighter now, and that makes him prime.

hopkins is definetly up there. no doubt about that. after hearing and seeing what he was having to go through towards the end of his mw reign to make weight, and after seeing how good he looked once he did move up, i would have loved to have seen what he could have done had me moved up earlier. his resume speaks for itself and considering he does his business w/ ring smarts and tactics as opposed to all out speed and/or power is even more of a testament to him.
