Bert Sugar is just as much a boxing historian as a WWE guy is a real wrestler. He's an entertainer who uses boxing as his repertoire. He's not entertaining me though.

    Entertainer ? Historian ?
And there I was thinking Bert Sugar is a veteran sports writer.

Bert Sugar is a great boxing mind, but he's utterly pissed all the time. So he has all these great thoughts, gets pissed, makes a list and then wakes up with a terrible hangover full of remorse. But it's too late, everyone on the internet is already laughing at him.

Me neither. I cant stand the site of his cigar ridden rotting teeth that he always likes to pertrude out while he is speaking on camera. He can never get his point accross and its more times than not, wrong!

Monte cox though is a boxing historian I do admire. Most of his analysis, (with the exception of George Foreman's) is well thought out.

Lowest?? Maybe around 15. He's not even the best of his own era, let alone top five all time. Lewis is among the most overrated top level HW champs - the only one taken out early twice by second rate fighters when he held the title.

Was wondering what took ya so long, guess it's cause Holyfield wasn't included in the thread title. Now if the thread was called. "Lennox Lewis - how many rounds did he beat Holyfield by, in their two fights; 10 or 11?", you'd a showed up pronto.

BTW, there's been some discussion about having a Lennox Lewis Appreciation Day..interested in participating?

I love Frazier, but you can never get away from that he showed himself to have no chance against one fighter (Foreman). One other fighter got to the better of him (Ali), while past his best. Joe just doesn't have the depth of wins to make up for this IMO.

No man got the better of Lewis (he emphatically avenged both his losses) and he more or less cleaned house with the 90's HWs. A very strong generation of HWs.

Sure, Frazier's win over Ali is better than anything Lewis has. But apart from that it's all Lewis. I can't, in good consciense, rank Frazier higher due to one win. If I did, Buster Douglas would start to look good for top 10.

Also, Lewis is one of the few HWs who have proved himself against most styles. Well, not really slicksters, but apart from that.

He never should have been defeated in that fashion by that level of fighter in the first place, but he gets credit for avenging both defeats emphatically.

On that basis, Calzaghe, Marciano, Mayweather, and Lopez must all be extra good then. Frazier had prime Muhammad Ali and George Foreman to contend with, Lewis had prime Mercer and Andrew Golota. Frazier's win over Ali is leaps and bounds better than anything Lewis has on his record.

For 1 Lennox probably has 10 wins better than Fraziers second best win

For 2 ALi wasnt prime when Frazier got to him and still beat Frazier twice after the event.

For 3 no man proved themselves the better man than Lewis over a series of fights, 2 men proved themselves better than Frazier

That was the best Ali we ever saw post-exile, certainly. It's still a greater scalp than Lewis could ever have hoped to get, even prime Tyson wouldn't have been a better win. By the way, I rate Lewis higher than Frazier myself, but Lennox cleared out the contenders and past it elites - he never beat Bowe, Holyfield, or Tyson when they were at their peak. Like I said before, not pointing fingers, but Ali took care of everyone in his reign..Lennox didn't, for whatever reason.

Those 2 men being Foreman and Ali, as opposed to McCall and Rahman.
