Boxers always make the best interviews lol.It has been posted before but for those who have not seen it here is a Bernard Hopkins interview on Hot97 with Angie Martinez and some portorican guy who is still upset about Hopkins throwing the portorican flag.

RA - "So Floyd, when are you gonna fight a top fighter your own size?"
Floyd - "I JUST BEAT THE NO.2 P4P FIGHTER!!"
RA - "Your own size?"
Floyd - "So now its about weight class, you said its not about weight class, weight class mumble weight class"
RA - "wha...you sound confused Floyd...?"

I think many Floyd fans are comfusing being a boxing fan and hating here though. RA sounded like he genuinely like Floyd, but like so many fans, he seemed very frustrated at his lack of competition. This guy could be so great, be he doesnt seem to want boxing greatness...He said it, dont take offense to it, take it as an advice.

Most fans who question Floyds resume arent haters, just frustrated fans. Floydboys just get very defensive about it and take offense.


In Floyds defense:

He fought and beat Judah, no one gives him credit for that yet when Cotto beats Judah, its considered very tough comp and a great win. To answer why he fought Baldomir instead of Margo, there was no need to lie and say he got offered 12mil, he could have simply stated he fought him cos he was the undisputed champ, why fight Margo for the WBO when he can fight the undisputed champ for the same money, and bring in the fact that good job he didnt fight Margo else he would have been hit with bricks.

He fought DLH at 154 in what many thought was a 50/50 fight...also you ask any other fighter who they would rather fight, DLH or Margarito...answer is simple.

Hatton was a good fight too, people got short term memory but it was one of the most anticipated fights of the year. Hatton was undefeated, 2 weight champ, beat Kostya, destroyed Castillo and his style to alot of people resembled Castillo's. They thought they were gonna see PBF vs Castillo 2 except Castillo was bigger. Hatton was given a good shot.

As for fighting JMM, theres no need to justify it a legacy fight, try sell it like we're stupid. He could simply come out with it and explain he was trying to get one back on Pac, Pac beat his last 2 opponents, so he embarrassed JMM, its building up to a possible Pac-PBF fight.

Im sorry but I hate Floyd for not giving us these great fights. If he wins he wins but go after it ! He will be remembered for beating De La Hoya by a point late in his career or fighting Marquez way out of his best weight. His lightweight career will be embraced but there is too many ATG's 147 and above to put him up there.

 

Nope Arum and Cotto's camp said it first, Floyd followed suite because he was parts of Arums fighters.. But everyone knew floyd was looking for a coming out fight with big money potential and Cotto was it. Arum had already went on record as too saying he would not put cotto in with floyd.

It was not until floyd wanted out of his contract with Arum did arum Offer floyd 8 mill to fight Margarito and 7 mill for cotto and Hatton.. Arum himself said floyd would have fought Margarito for 8 mill but will not except fighting hatton and cotto for 7..

 

Cotto and Arum wanted to make the fight with floyd in March/April 2008 -when both were unbeaten champs - but floyd's excuses to duck it were Wont do business with Bob Arum, Cotto is a punching bag and he knows he can't beat me, and Cotto's name isn't big enough.

Cotto wanted fraud last year, it's a fact. Cotto will want fraud after Pac if he wins. But fraud fears Cotto.
