Not even cuffing.......I watched this fight 50x. I can count the number of clean punches calzaghie landed in the first 7 rounds on 2 hands. He punched air and gloves. Hopkins controlled the fight and had calzaghie frustrated the whole fight.
WHY? Hopkins was way to versitile for hagler. He would box haggi's ears off. If leonard did it, what do you think hopkins woulda done? 12 or even 15!
Hopkins landed the cleaner shots, but Calzaghe did come on strong and was able to overwhelm him with volume throughout much of the contest. I remember EXACTLY how I scored this fight. I gave Hopkins rounds 1-4, 7, and 10, and I gave Calzaghe all the rest. 114-113 for Hopkins, but it was no robbery. I was very impressed by Calzaghe. I did not think he would be able to compete with Hopkins, but what impressed me most was: * he was able to beat Hopkins in the battle of adjustments * he was able to beat Hopkins in the championship rounds (which is something I never recall happening before) Calzaghe proved to me that he was a world class fighter that night.
Leonard did NOT box Hagler's ears off, and neither would Hopkins. It would be a competitive fight. Prime for prime, I favor Hagler. :smoke
His stats of what.....punching air? Calzaghie didnt dictate **** in that fight. His biggest highlight was his ***** actions in the ring other then punching air and being frustrated all night.
One landed punch in all those pics?? Look at calzaghies actions in the fight and in the corner and whos face was ****ed up at the end of the night? I couldnt even tell hopkins was in a fight.
43 is a prime hopkins? omgatsch someone who have trouble throwing past double digits per round and have no threatening power, winning basically with ring generalship is in prime? You are dumb as hell.
Are you talking about lewis/holy 1 or 2? Calzaghie was crying. To the ref and his dad in the corner. Are you telling me HOPKINS wasnt by the low blow? If there was any headbutting it was caused by calzaghie's desperate attempts to rush in carelessly slapping air. Calzaghies gay porn **** shows you how frustrated he was. Rounds 1-7 you need to put your glasses on and rewatch. Volume off at that. You must get suade easily by the announcers. Calzaghie didnt land more punches and maybe he was the agressor but he was hardly effective. OUT ON HIS FEET???? Hopkins was never hurt or in trouble, calzaghie was.
You couldn't be more wrong.Neither Woods nor anyone else stopped him other than Bernard.AND Johnson was undefeated going into the Hopkins fight. And Hopkins remains the only middleweight to beat him.You need to reread my post in order to avoid picking and choosing just what you want to quote.I used Johnson as an example because Hopkins STOPPED him and remains the ONLY man to do so.If you were to watch the Johnson fight, you would see a Hopkins with footspeed and athleticism-that version of Hopkins stopped existing long before he fought Taylor,Calzaghe and Pavlik.By the way,if Pavlik and Johnson were to fight,I'm not even a gambling man,but I know I'd make a bundle by wagering on Johnson to beat him.Do you honestly believe that Kelly Pavlik would beat Glen Johnson? Not me.And as far as Hopkins "getting better" between the Taylor fights and the Pavlik fight, why didn't Bernard make the adjustments to beat Taylor in the second fight?Because he was past his prime, that's why.The truth of the matter is that all Bernard did was expose Kelly Pavlik as a limited fighter. To claim that Bernard was prime when he beat Pavlik is just plain stupid.Do you have any idea that Bernard is 4-3 in his last 7 fights without a ko victory? That's hardly the record of a "prime" great fighter.
With all due respect maldito,Leonard got a split decision in what is very much usually thought as a close, close fight. And Leonard may have been past it,Hagler was completely shot by that time.Just look at his non-existent reflexes and footspeed against Mugabi and Roldan.
Neither were in their prime, and you don't win fights backing up and throwing 20 punches in a round. The first taylor fight is debatable, but Calzaghe, clearly beat Hopkins by anyway you want to measure it. He controled the fight, and landed more punches.
