A lot of these guys seriously under estimate how big a problem Ward's lack of power could turn out to be. If you have the habit of holding a low guard like Ward, and there is nothing in your arsenal to keep a guy like Kessler from coming forward, he's going to walk you down and knock you out.
Then why didnt Kessler walk down Calslap? You know nothing about boxing. Lack of power means little if you can time and confuse your opponent accordingly. Jesus. atsch Its why brawlers lose to boxers 90% of the time.
I hate repeating myself, but why/how can anyone compare Ward to Calzaghe? Will Ward be able to adjust like Calzaghe did? Adaptability was Calzaghe's best attribute. That's why there was no specific plan you could count on to beat him. I think Ward is a very good fighter, but why the hell people think Kessler is nothing/overrated is beyond me. Ward will do pretty well for 4 or 5 rounds, but he will be in constant retreat. Kessler will take control of him, and has a good chance to stop him. Ward's chin is not proven. It's still an uncertain. Kessler does not fold, period.
You seriously don't get why someone could just not simply walk Calzaghe down? Who doesn't know boxing here?:think
We are comparing Calzaghe and Ward because Calzaghe was a fighter with little power, that was still able to confuse, outbox, and stun Kessler at one point. Ward and Calzaghe versatility is comparable. Its yet to see if Ward has the intangibles, timing, activity and endurance of Joe. Again follow the thread correctly. His resume is overrated. He has beat no one. His one fight against an elite opponent he lost badly. His last 3 fights have been against journeymen. He is the definition of overrated. Yep, sounds like exactly what was predicted for Dirrel vs Froch. Dirrell will do well, then magically froch would overpower him and stop him. Such a stupid silly prediction with no basis in reality that those that know little about boxing always make. My prediction is that Kesslers going to have his hands full for 12 rounds, and is gonna need to start throwing bombs just as he did when he was outclassed, outthought and outboxed by Calzaghe if he hopes to win.
Because Calzaghes activity, versatility and timing. Again have you not been following this thread? I said it was the same reason Kessler would not be able to walk down Ward. atsch Have you watched wards fight at all dumby? You do know he is extremely proficient at almost any style dont you?
Danny Rand -- see ignore list under "D." I do not put people on ignore for disagreeing with me. Hell -- if I did, I'd of put you there a hundred times!! I put posters on ignore for being ******ed, and Danny Rand qualifes:yep
Dont worry, I'll be sure to make a thread in your honor on another one of your dumbass predictions come the 21st. Too bad you wont be able to see it, I'll be sure enough people are laughing at your expense so you hear about it though.
Yes, and Kessler is not a "robot" unless that is a comparison to his consistency. He has maybe the best jab in boxing, is definitely not slow, and is better on his feet than a lot of people probably think. He won't stalk Ward like a "robot". Mundine ran like hell from Kessler, but he had no problem catching up to him and winning a fairly wide decision. I see Ward in retreat most of the time. It's also a major psychological factor sometimes when you realize the guy you're hitting with everything you've got just keeps coming. Ward hits as light as Calzaghe did towards the END of his career, before his hands went to ****. Power is very important in this tournament. I have no idea if Ward can stand up to Kessler's punches well at all either.
Calzaghe threw punches from all angles, could always adapt to any situation, had an excellent chin. He made adjustments on the fly. How are you so sure Ward will be able to do any of this? Again, Ward is NO Calzaghe.
He basically has 2 punches. Jab and straight right. He has a good uppercut, but not nearly in the elite level category. He's not your typical Euro robot, but he's close, and in comparision to Chad Dawson, Joe Calzaghe, Bernard Hopkins, real guys with versatility, not even close son. Wow, quite possibly the most ridiculous thing said on this forum to date. You got that from his fights with Beyer, Andrade and Mundine did you rofl. If his jab was so good, then why was Calzaghe able to take it away so easily and turn him into a brawler? Actually Kessler himself said that had he not won the last 2 rounds he would have lost. Actually he would have tied on atleast one fo the judges scorecards/ Oh and Ward is a far far far better boxer/athlete then Mundine. Not really. Guys like Mayweather, Hopkins, Calzaghe, Chad Dawson ect have no proble pounding on their opponents until they finally give up. Sometimes it is a psychological hurdle, but Ward who has shown heart in the past wont get discouraged, and it wont take him out of his gameplan. If you watched enough boxing, you'd know when its a pure boxer against a come forward fighter, its mostly the comeforward fighter who gets discouraged most of the time when he cant find his opponent. Calzaghe was at the end of his career with bad hands and the whole bit when he fought kessler. still hurt him to the body, still outboxed him and easily seperated the class difference by the time the fight was over. this was 2 years ago btw. Who knows if Kessler is even on that level anymore. I suspect Ward will do the same as what Calzaghe did, but with more boxing and eluding. Those bombs Calzaghe took, wont find Ward.
Because I actually watched his fights before. Again Ward is probably the most versatile fighter in the supersix. Dirrell is great at switching back and forth from southpaw, but Ward is much more technically sound. Ward has proven he can fight strategically to match the opponent in front of him.
Fact: Ward is the weakest puncher out of the tournament Fact: It took Ward six rounds to make Andy Kolle quit when it took Paul Williams one round to knock him out Fact: Paul Williams is a harder puncher than Andre Ward Fact: Andre Ward can hurt Mikkel Kessler, but most likely Kessler won't get hit as much. Fact: Almost all of Ward's knockouts have come from stoppages, he's only knocked out one opponent.
Andre Ward, ring general? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQ0j_T5K9gw&feature=PlayList&p=6FFD5E66FB8F1A38&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=96[/ame] or Ricky Hatton part II? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmbgIcqlR3I&feature=PlayList&p=D739E1A8AA2042FD&index=4[/ame]
