had trouble pulling the trigger, bad timing. i had Quigley winning by a round, dont see Smith getting a european title.
havto say neither of them did their image any good with that performance. their speed and accuracy was way way below world level (yet smith is in the top 10 in the WBO??) and i was dissapointed as id heard very good things about smith quigely should be a middleweight and smith didnt exactly look trim at 168 too
Most people did not havwe quigley winning actually. Neither looked at their best, and both were not letting their hands go enough. however, when paul started to do this in the 10-12th round, he looked far more comfortable, and it won him the fight!
Sub-Par fight, and I lost more respect for Smith after his "I can't get motivated for kids I know I can beat" But the thing is Paul, you have to, or they ****ing beat YOU. Not wanting to lose to 'kids you know you can beat' should be motivation enough. I had it as a draw.
No, he looked crap, well over-rated this kid. Quigley beat him by 3 rounds for me anyway, anybody who thought he deserved it should stop watching boxing cause they aint got a clue
I watched the fight with 3 others and all of us had it a draw... 116-116 Neither fighter looked very special but, as a fight, I thought it was very watchable.
That is why Quigley will always be more liked than Smith. Tony's a kid who will be able to look back one day & say 'I was British Champion' with pride. I genuinely believe he makes the most of the tools he was given. Whereas Smith is a complete letdown. I'm beginning to wonder if I've wrongly convinced myself he's miles better than his performances suggest.
