I know Manny fight's southpaw, But what hand does he write with? (He is a naturaly right handed correct?) Any Pac's know the answer?
He has fought as a lefty for extended periods of time in his fights. Most notably against NDou and Corley, and he did so for a bit against Judah. De La Hoya is also a lefty that fights orthodox. Dawson is a righty that fights left handed. Calderon is a righty that fights left handed.
watch tyson fight again. he switches all the time in close quarters. His stance is orthodox yes, but he switches southpaw inclose, that's why his left hook is so deadly, because the opponent doesn't know he switched and therfore can't adapt. So I wouldn't say he fought strictly orthodox. and yes like you said he is a lefty.
There's a picture someone posted recently of Manny signing and autograph with his right hand. Though it's possible he could be ambidextrous like Pavlik and Kessler. *edit, here's the photo... This content is protected
Manny's ambidextrous (at least sort of). He prefers to autograph with his right (that might have been learned though), but on 24/7, he threw a baseball with his left hand.
Winky Wright is a righty that write with his right hand but he fights in the southpaw stance. Why else his jab is his favorite punch?
That's what I was wondering. Also wondering why people don't get why a left-hand dominant fighter would fight orthodox.:-(
one of early fights Tyson fight some journeyman, first three rounds he fighted soutpaw and looked like ****. then he chance back to orthodox in fourth round and knock this journeyman out.
This is what I've been thinking. De La Hoya= converted southpaw -no real right hand. Hatton= left hook is his best punch- average right hand. Cotto= similar to De La Hoya - converted southpaw(but with better right hand then Oscar). Not discrediting Pac as he's clearly at a size disadvantage, but noteworthy all the same:think
When Tyson threw his barrages and flurries he would land briefly into a southpaw stance and stay there for a few shots. Anyway, all southpaws have some (variable) degree of ambidextrousness, unlike right-handers. Right handed people are left-brain dominant and left-handed people are right-brain dominant but have some additional development of their left brains for unknown reasons. . .hence the degree of ambidextrousness. That's just the way the neural circuitry works. Right handers practically have zero development of their right side brain thus practically zero ambidextrousness. Anyway, I have been training and sparring for years and I am a southpaw. Though uncomfortable for me, it's relatively easy and completely doable for me to switch to orthodox but the immense majority of my right-handed opponents could not fight 1 round southpaw for the life of them. That's why you see so many natural left-handers who fight orthodox. However you almost never see a right hander fighting southpaw. Only natural right-hander I know of that fights southpaw is Juan Urango. As a result, his best punch is the right hook from the southpaw stance. Pretty long-winded post but I hope it was informative =).
