    That would be when John got disqualitied for being ahead on points against Carlos Duran for the European title in Italy. It wasn't the only time Duran won on a late disqualification in Italy.
    John never boxed again he was that disgusted.

    He did, he retired with a 32-1-1 as British and Commonwealth champ. That was the only loss on his career,
    I've just had a look at the boxing news from that week and he was ahead on all scorecards and even the Italians booed it and started throwing stuff in the ring. Reason given was loose headwork even though he had no warnings and Duran had cut him with his head earlier in the fight.
    Mickey Duff nearly had a fight with the referee. It was pandemonium in the ring.

    sounds absouloute bollocks

    things like that ruin boxing and fighters

    abit like when the ref DQ'd Siki for KOing Carpientier in there fight but the crowd booed and the judge told the ref to stick his call up his arseand the judges called Siki the winner by KO

    McGowan got robbed in Italy for the European Bantamweight title when he got a draw with Tomasso Galli.
