I would say he is. He's far more varied defensively and can fight on the inside. He's probably not got as good a jab, IMO. But he's certainly more well rounded.

Don't wanna hear any word come out of Floyd's mouth regarding fighters who achieved twice as much as he did, unless that word is, "superior".

He's more complete stylistically, doesn't mean he's better, not to say he isn't though.

For me Ali is greater, just my opinion

RJJ was nowhere near that level...ever. It's one thing to have the ability, another thing to fight the best and beat the best. Wins over Hopkins, Toney, and Ruiz don't get you in the top 30 let alone anywhere close to the original Sugar man, who had more knockouts than he fights and fought the best of his era multiple times. The greatness of Roy is so exaggerated at times.

Ali is greater as he fought in a stronger era and was tested more than Mayweather to prove his mettle. But Mayweather is a more complete fighter even though he's not fought as high as a level of comp.

I think that Mayweather was virtually flawless against Corrales. It's up there with the most beautiful boxing displays I've ever seen, and that includes Whitaker, Robinson and Leonard. Ok, Corrales was reasonably limited and not exactly a hall of famer but Mayweather took care of him like a master.

He's just more complete because he's more complete, like you say, he fights on the inside better and he can go to the body as well. More varied, it doesn't mean he's better though. Like you say, Ali beat some of the best heavyweights ever, the best guys in a golden era, and the best guys in another brilliant era.

That performance against Corrales was quality. Even though the style of his is tailor made to outclass Corrales, he still did it to perfection, and Corrales was the fight for him then so that can't be knocked. Like i always say, i'm mightily impressed with Floyd Mayweather's 130 pound career, all of it. If he would have added Casamayor then oh my. Even though Freitas beat Casamayor, beating Casa (for Floyd) would have proved a stylistic point.

But as it is, we've never seen Mayweather in against that type of boxer.

Yes, he is more complete. Simple to absorb and understand, and I gave my reasons why. Teeto, try not to confuse things mate. Mayweather is simply saying that he was more a complete fighter in terms of what he could do inside the ring.

Stop getting on the defensive man! I wasn't implying you meant Mayweather>Ali, i was just putting something forth generally. Sorry if it came across like i was putting words in your mouth mate.

I wanna put my fist in your mouth now though! Only kidding.

I KNOW! I was just saying that he did say that also, not implying that you said otherwise, that's what this thread is, discussing Mayweather's comments about fighters we consider greater than him.

    I'm not your enemy Robbi:lama
