He visited, briefly, at a gym in a loyalist area but, unconvienently for those trying to make a huge story out of it all, also visited one in a nationalist area...

The inevitable rematch between Sam Sexton and Martin Rogan takes place at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena this Friday (November 6). At stake is the Commonwealth heavyweight title, along with a lot of pride, a lot of unfinished business, a lot of everything.
In fact, it is a natural.
Local man Rogan, a rugged, brawling yet sporting fellow with a big following, lost the Commonwealth belt to Sexton in a controversial encounter earlier this year at the same arena. Behind on points and struggling with injury, Rogan stood off with Sexton seriously hurt in the eighth round because Sexton had gestured he had lost his gumshield. Referee Dave Parris then took Rogan, not Sexton, to a corner and the fight was waved off due to a shocking swelling over Rogan’s left eye. Oh yes, excitement and drama are always guaranteed with Mr Rogan, even a touch of class.
Now, back to the fight. Let us make two things clear: the speed of Sexton had troubled Rogan from the start, and big Martin did not hammer his own eye shut. His efforts to stop Sexton in that eighth round, however, looked about to succeed when the unsatisfactory ending unfolded. To add to Rogan’s woes he lost his Commonwealth title - and an unbeaten record - at an untimely stage in his career. He was on a real roll prior to Sexton, winning Prizefighter, licking former Olympic champion Audley Harrison and stopping Bedford Bear Matt Skelton but, possibly on the verge of something major, his worsening eye proved too much of a handicap against Sexton.
Sam, it should be said, has also won Prizefighter and deserves plaudits for defying the odds first time. The neat-boxing Norwich man was given little chance but has now won his five in a row since unbeaten Finchley prospect Derek Chisora stopped him in six rounds last year. Indeed, Sexton’s record of 12-1 (5) is almost almost identical to that of the 12-1 (6) Rogan’s - but Sexton is a whopping 13 years younger than the 38-year-old Rogan, who turned pro late after a late drink cost him his Irish amateur vest.
Everything considered, then, the two are well-matched and another exciting battle looks in store. Will youth be served again or will the revenge angle sway the balance Rogan’s way?
    I plump for the latter.

well Sexton is a member of multiple "borderline dodgy" groups on facebook so there might actually be a bit of truth in the end!

He was axed from the Irish amateur squad for breaking curfew in Bulgaria in April 2004. "It is ridiculous that a 33-year-old cannot nip out for a pint," said Martin at the time. He turned pro a little later.

Some of the previous press events were open to the public, I went along to a couple. Will definitely try and get along to these if I can get out of work.

Rogie was mainly into Gaelic football but still picked up an Irish super-heavyweight title and several Irish vests. He even made the Olympic qualifiers in 2004.
