I think another five fights would still be a little early.

However, there is no reason to hold any of these guys back - they were proven to be elite amateurs. No need for the bum of the month club for the first two years

No he's not. I'm not saying he is world class but he is getting a very rough deal from a lot of people on here.

I can see why some people might not have enjoyed the Quigley fight (i enjoyed it live) but the fact is he beat him for the belt and has only lost once before.

I agree that he wont win a world title but he has done well domestically to win the title. A fight with Dodson would be great as would a rematch with Quigley.

By that time DeGale will have some more fights under his belt and it would be a good one in 18 months time.

I'd go for Degale by that point as he has more class and variety in his locker.

If we are looking at December, 2010, then we would be likley to see DeGale in his 10th fight by then (same amount as fights as khan has in the same period)

even if he has had 12 fights i cannot see it happening.

btw i dont think Paul Smith will be British Champion in 12 months time. Also remember the commonwealth Champion is Jason McKey who is very beatable. It really is a race between Groves, DeGale and Jeffries to get there hands on the British and Commonwealth title.

If Maloney has both Groves with the british and Jeffries with the commonwealth, DeGale will not be allowed to fight them (unless he goes to Middle) as warron would not put him in with either and Maloney would not allow Jeffries to fight on another promiters card. The purse bids for the 3 possible fights would probably break the british purse bid record.

In 12 months time Kenny Anderson will the the British Champion and I am sure he would be delighted to take on Groves Jeffries or Degale.

    ****ing love that post. Thanks.

I think with the right opponents DeGale can be at a very competative level in 5 fights plus by then Smith will be probably a former champ. Very good fight for both by late next year.

Who would you guys have as DeGales next 5 opponents if he were to be ready for a title/eliminator fight?

degale needs to improve quicker cos smith is there for the taking. put degale in 8 rounders next time. degale could outbox smith with his old sloppy amateur skills. pop pop pop, bolo uppercut, pop pop pop.

He didnt win it though did he!, he was gifted it because he was the Warren fighter, you and about 2 others are the only people on here who think Smith really won. Face it mate it was yet another terrible performance from him, it was meant to be the fight where we would all see how good he really was but instead he just showed how crap and limited he is AGAIN. And to make matters worse Quigley is hardly some outstanding British champ. For me he would have to beat Magee to prove himself at domestic level, that wont happen. Paul Smith will not be British champ for long that is a fact.
