Kevin Mitchell could be in line for a world title shot - if he beats Amir Khan conqueror Breidis Prescott.

Promoter Frank Warren says he has matched the pair in a world title eliminator, although no more details of the fight are available.

Mitchell is currently riding high at super-featherweight with the WBO, and has long targeted a fight for that belt.

The British champion has suffered a number of injuries since winning his title 18 months ago, and has given up his Commonwealth belt.

But he is now fully fit and looking to build on a series of impressive KO victories.

The 25-year-old, who last boxed when he halted Rudy Encarnacion at the MEN Arena in July, has a 29-0 record with 22 stoppages.

Prescott sprang to fame when he handed Khan his first defeat in September of last year, a spectacular first round KO in Manchester.

The Colombian, 26, has boxed twice since, beating Humberto Toledo before losing a split decision to Miguel Vazquez in July and now stands at 21-1 (18 )

He is scheduled to fight for the WBO Intercontinental title at light-welterweight in Russia, although is more used to campaigning at lightweight.

So is Mitchell moving up in weight? Can't see that being a good move - however if this fight does materialise then it should be a good fight, although I can see Prescott possibly stopping him - 50/50 fight.

What the hell has happened to the Burns fight though? :-(

This is a crock of **** if Burns doesn't get his shot. I firmly believe he'd beat Mitchell and would be so annoyed if it never came off

lol which weight are they fightinga at because presscots at 140 now presscot doesnt hit hard, he hits hard enough to exposed the glass jawed of the boxing world, i think mitchell would cope well with the overrated power of presscot he could even win if he gets on the inside presscot is just as clueless as khan fighting in close

For someone who eats punches this seems a silly idea. Then again, I dont think Prescott is anything out of the ordinary so would be a decent name on the record if he can get it done.

u should watch the 1st round of his fight against toledo presscot was landing big he was throwing everything into his shots and snapping toledos head back in the 1st round
toledos a SFW whos been KO'd 5 times already and he didnt even blink from any of his shots thrown by bredis, mitchell has a better chin then khan we know that much i'm sure he'd handle the power better

I agree mate, I dont think he's special power wise, ability wise or anything. Hopefully the Khan hype sees Mitchell as a great price at the bookies. I favour him here.

Prescott was just the lucky man in the right place at the right time, it would/could of been plenty of others.
