khan, people say all this crap about him but he is only 22 ffs, and has a heart no chin though, but has heart and is determined. people hate the fact the he things on a plate and is "lucky", well what would you do if your were khan turn down a world title shot........exactly, plus he works out like crazy freddie roach says himself khan does the most work in the gym so does deserve what he has.
Since the Yamaguchi fight, yes. There are some interesting cases on ESB where it's not only divisive but downright polar - ie Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, Lennox Lewis, Mikkel Kessler, James Toney, Chad Dawson, Wladimir Klitschko. There are virtually no objective parties when it comes to those guys - you have to pick a side (huggers or haters). :yep
Besides the three fighters you named, Hasim Rahman, David Haye, Sam Peter, Anthony Mundine and Fres Oquendo are not liked at all here. Not much love for Calzaghe and Ottke either, though they're retired. James Toney is a fighter many 'fans' love to hate. Obviously I don't.
Fast Fres gets hate? I think he gets ignored, except by the small handful who complain about robberies (justifiable complaints, at least re: Toney).
While I still like Haye as a fighter, his antics leading up to the Valuev fight have been inexcusably embarrasing, even for a fighter like Haye. He has revealed himself as a childish, petty, egomaniac who has no respect for the fighter, a beltholder, he is facing. And no, I'm not a Valuev fan. But calling him ugly and smelly is just plain playground stuff. I would expect the British people, who are still supposed to be quite refined, to know the difference between cruelty and playful ribbing. Haye has been cruel...but apparently most people are too stupid or apathetic to care. But me? I can't stand the guy.
I actually like Valuev, dont really care one way or another about ruiz, the fighter i truly truly dislike is CAMACHO JR........ i dont like JC eather..... never have and probably never will.
It's only Americans who believe Brits are "refined", basically because everything an American knows comes from the great educational system of Hollywood
Oquendo may get ignored by the general boxing fans, but he's certainly not liked at all where I'm coming from. I don't know of any fans of his either. Now I don't 'hate' these fighters I mentioned, as I only hate people that I know personally, but I can't stand Oquendo. Not only because of the Toney fight (which could've gone either way), no, that's just one of many examples. Oquendo turns every fight he's in into a boring stinker. He runs, holds, gets dirty, basically he's even worse than John Ruiz. He performs anti-boxing in that ring. He doesn't enter the ring to win, he only wants to survive. And that's why he's in so many close fights or so-called 'robberies', but in my book Oquendo has not been robbed a single time. He doesn't show up to win, so he doesn't deserve to win. That's also why he lost to old man Holyfield and Chris Byrd. But the worst thing is his whining and bitching after every single one of these 'robberies'.
