I hope im not annoying people with the amount of threads im starting all the time, its just im hungry to get better asap.

Anyway just have a question with regards my nose, basicly ive sparred 4 times and 3 of those times i have gotten nose bleeds! Now the first time i got the crap beatin out of me,he got a good right hand to my nose and it was bloody. However the other time i was caut with a decent jab square on the nose which only made me very slightly bleed. Today i was sparring the guy who beat the crap out of me the first night, and i did quite well, my trainer said i had improved a good bit.
I know myself still need to work on my defense but it was better then any of the other times. However yet again i think he got two or three good jabs to my nose over the course of the 3 rounds and again a bit of a nose bleed. Basicly my trainer said to me because of the shape of my shnoz it seems to be more prone to this, but he said if i went to the doctor and told him i kept getting nose bleeds he could "weld it up" so to speak! (i dunno the actual term that i was told earlier)
Has anyone ever had similar problems?

Again i know i need to work on my defense which is the most important thing, my head movement was better today but lots of room for improvement obviously. Its just very frustrating been so vunerable..

Some people are simply nose bleeders. I believe the term you were likely given was a cauterization. It is a safe and easy procedure and will prevent a lot of future bleeding. If you plan to have a career in boxing and have this recurring problem, it's a smart thing to consider. A lot of refs will stop a match when they see a lot of blood, even if it isn't from overwhelming punches.

It's not really something you can help besides not getting hit in the nose. You shouldn't really worry about nose bleeds though, it doesn't determine who is winning the fight

My dad was a boxer as well. And had the nose bleed problem. He ended up getting it cauterized. He said it worked well from what he can remember.

Seems a bit extreme o_O. Usually people only do it when they have septum problems

I bleed in the nose if I get hit with a solid shot there also, I'm in the same situation as you.

Well im gonna look into getting it cauterized, because getting a decent jab to the nose causing me to bleed when im only sparring is just so frustrating.

my mate had his broken 4 times while he was boxing.when he first joined the club a tap on his snotter would have it pissing blood out.after the 4th break it didn't bleed anymore.
personally,i've never had a nose bleed in my life, but i got swellings round the eyes and bloody lips when i boxed.

thats just it. I've been hit in the face so many times it would be a rediculous number to even try to count with all the sparring I do every week. Last summer my nose was even moving sideways a bit, so at night I'd push it back while laying in bed until it got straightened up again lol :nut

Bot I haven't once had a nose bleed. Not once. It's just an unfortunate, annoying thing some people get. Jack, I know of a couple of people who have had it done. One guy it worked for perfectly, hasn't bled since. The other, it helped, but not as well. Not sure how much that helps, but that's all I got.

don't rush into it! it sounds like the first time you sparred you got your nose rocked hard...and now its weakend if you rest it by not sparrin for a couple of weeks might calm it down and jabs wont burst it

if not then go speak to the doctor...if your worried about losing a couple of weeks sparring...it you get your nose cauterized then you'll be out for atleast a fortnight

    good luck

Yeah i was on to my doctor today and he said id have to go to a specialist to get it done, could cost 200e aswell :-(

I think you could be right about my nose getting rocked because i was hit with a good right hand, that was with 16oz gloves, i think getting hit by 10oz would send my nose streaming blood.

And the thing is there is supposed to be novice fights coming up the end of the month in my college and i want to do as much sparring as i can but then i know they are really strict in these fights especially because there novice and id say if my nose is bleeding theyd stop it, i think i should just cut it off!
