i can't remember if frank bruno won SPOTY but how many sportsmen/women have had as much personality as him.
anyway when someone like princess horseanne and her daughter win, what value does it have

If we take the popularity of the sports and the people out of the equation i still think Ennis deserves it more than Haye and Button.

F1 is a team sport. Even the drivers admit this. They say that it is not just down to the drivers but also the manufacturing team as well. I personally think they say this as an answer to get around the 'isn't it the car more than the driver that determines who wins?' question that is often put to them.

Anyway i am going to take their word for it, so they instantly lose points as usually happens in this awards show as it is rarer for a member of a team sport to win this award. I know footballers and criketers have won it in the past but considering how popular these sports are they don't win as much as you would think.

If Haye does beat Valuev i still don't think he will deserve it as much as Ennis. Winning the HW title is impressive but if we are taking popularity out of the equation then there is no difference between winning the HW title from any other weight divisions title so he really shouldn't get bonus points just because he is an HW.

Another more important reason why Haye shouldn't deserve it is because if he beats Valuev he has only beaten the third best titilist. If he beat either one of the Klitschko's then maybe he would deserve it but just beating Valuev is not good enough in my opinion. The equivalent would be if Ennis won a bronze in her event and then won the sports personality of the year.

I hope Ennis gets it (given that Haye is a non-starter IMHO), better her than a posh ****er strapped to an engine....;O)

The Brazilian GP got 6.63 million viewers the other week on BBC1. Boxing can't even get on terrestrial TV
But if you were to put Haye-Valuev on BBC on a sunday afternoon/early evening, my guess is it would double, maybe even treble those figures.

Love the way you dismiss all those other acheivements whilst bigging up a "victory" that hasn't even occured yet, in a year where Haye hasn't had one single other fight.

No point trying to reason with the half naked dude, glibly dismissing England winning the Ashes and Button winning the driver's world title in favour of one 12 round boxing match, that hasn't even happened yet. Infact, he's openly admitting to knowing **** all.
