Just read details that Matt Macklin will be fighting Rafael Sosa Pintos on December 5th.
Rafael Sosa Pintos has a record of 34-4-0 and has gone the distance with Anthony Mundine and Khoren Gevor but got beaten easily both times and he has been stopped on his 2 other losses this is clearly just a stay busy fight for Matt but this is a decent enough opponent considering that and a knockout win would certainly by a decent statement.

You must be getting confused, this is not on the Khan bill and Macklin is no longer a Warren fighter. He's promoted by Hatton and managed by Brian Peters.

This fight takes place in the National Boxing Stadium, Dublin.

excuse the ignorance but is Macklin even irish? or are they just promoting him over there to get a bigger fanbase?

I always thought he was from the manchester area.:think

I think its safe to say he is Irish when he says something like this

""Hopefully I can go on to win a World title for Ireland, the whole country had a great sense of pride the night Bernard Dunne won the World title and I'd love to repeat that. I certainly believe I can and I’d look to have most of my defences in Ireland. I was born and raised in Birmingham but I’ve never lost touch with my roots and I definitely consider myself an Irishman first and foremost"

:good cheers for clearing that up mate.

Being from glasgow it can be at times hard to prove whether someone is actually irish or not. It pisses a lot of people off particuarly when scotland are crying out for there best players and some of them *coughs* aiden mcgeady *coughs* decide to jump **** to ireland only because there grannies great uncle was irish.

sorry for the rant lol....no offence intended!

  11. Matty Macklin is a brummy who hails from the kings heath area, the same as Froch's trainer McCraken. In brimingham there are 2 main irish populated areas. Kings heath and Digbeth. Macklin signed with hatton, warren wanted him to fight barker but he's signed with hatton who is a personal mate and is paying more money per fight that warren was...

i agree with all apart from maloney who although born in malaysia moved to scotland when he was what 4 or 5 to live with his mother!
Macgeady was wanted by sctland big time..even played for the schools team but yet turned his back on us ..in my opinion..because under vogts we were shite and the republic were doing well if i remember.

Both countries are as bad as each other when it comes to dual nationality players..republic had phill babb, steven reid, tony cascarino, andy townsend etc

It funny that the bigots up there dont mind the Quashies of this word joining Scotland or even Novo or even Brian McLean playing for Northern Ireland but when its the republic that is involved they are very noisey indeed! Anyway - back to boxing!
