Would any of you gentlemen care to explain to me Wyatt Earp's implication in boxing?

I can't provide any real detail, but apparently he was a big gambler and often placed bets on fights back in the early part of the 20th century. He also refereed a few fights and one of them was Bob Fitzsimmons vs Tom Sharkey for the world heavyweight title - a match that Sharkey supposedly won on a disqualification. Other than that, I haven't got anymore info.

Wyatt Earp got in several fistfights himself, mostly saloon fights, because shooting was very rarely and often not necessary. He and his brothers were known for brutal brawls with drunkards, cardsharpers, rapists, bill-dodgers and other crooks. Doc Holliday wasn't involved in those brawls because he suffered from tuberculosis, plus he was a highly educated gentleman, although very handy with a gun if needed. The gunfight of the OK Corral was one of the seldom actions with guns involved.

You'll have to ask Janitor, but I think he told me once that Earp had money on Sharkey? Don't quote me on that though.

FFS.. Stories prevailed about Fitz vs Sharkey.. Fitz unhappy about $$$ was convinced by a coward with a gun (Earp) to accept his fickle payment and Fight. **** brains such as Earp encouraged other morons.. I.E. Bat dick face Masterson to become Wanna be sport writers for the sake of having their trashed pockets lined, in scribing dribble for the highest paying Promoters of the time. Perhaps the single most inspiring EGOTIST of all time was the legendary RICHARD K. FOX.. A dickhead with a Gazette/Publication/Newspaper.. whatever.. the **** dictated what he wished to.

Wyatt Earp was a former lawman with integrity and so-called honesty........... Promoter Texas Rickard wanted Earp to referee the huge racial title fight between "Johnson & Jeffries" in Reno back in 1910.......... Rickard felt that Earp's reputation would help maintain the peace and keep the fight on the level......... Plus, Rickard prolly also felt nobody would dare take a shot at Jack Johnson with a rifle with Wyatt Earp also standing in the ring.........

BUT! None of this matters since Earp refused the job as referee................ As did President W.H. Taft.........

That's all I know about Wyatt Earp in boxing............ Wyatt Earp (1848-1929) died at age 81........ Not bad.....

Didn't Kirk drop-kick and easily handle Earp in a brawl at the OK Corral?
