My uncle had a small holding near Thronton and when I was home we would go and watch cards in Burnley and we saw Blue 4 or 5 times, and actually had him down as a decent prospect...funny thing is, when I asked my uncle who was on the card he would refer to Blue as "that puff light welter" :deal:D. He used to take boatloads of photos and i'm sure that he must have one or two of Mr B...i'll check through them next time I see him and post up here for people to make their own judgement (sorry Blue)

Depends how you define "best". He's certainly been the most consistent, having only finished outside the points once. F1 is unique in that having a good car is so important. People have, rightly, said Hamilton and Alonso were not competitive because of their car but don't want to give Button the same benefit of the doubt for all the years he had a bad car.

F1 is a team game, hence why you have two parallel championships; drivers and constructors. It's not Brawn's fault the other teams couldn't get their act together and I'm willing to bet that, politics permitting, Button will still be competitive next year.

The Ashes were won over a series of five games, again a degree of consistency is needed to win it. It's not the same as winning a one off boxing match.

Denigrating other sports isn't the way to raise boxing's profile, and that was my main problem with the general sentiment shown on this thread. I'd rather see Haye win it next year, having put Ruiz into retirement and beaten a Klitschko.

Boxing should be back on a pedestal with other popular sports, not attempting to create its own from which to scoff haughtily at others.

Dan-b, lighten up man. From a personal point of view,it's been a mediocre year of sporting achievments(although what FRoch did to Taylor was'nt bad). And for me capturing a HW belt, abroad, against a physical giant of a man, in only his 2nd HW fight, thats a great sporting achievment and deserves credit,IF he pulls it off.
    I was'nt trying to scoff at other sports,its just a personal thing:good

It's good to have a serious discussion every now and again, don't you think? The Brit forum has always been good in that respect, you can get a decent debate going without people calling each other "***s" or some ****.

The Beeb have given Haye a fair amount of coverage the last few days, let's hope he can do this. Man, I'll have butterflies come Saturday night.:bbb
