Growing up I feared Mike Tyson. His savagely efficient brutal ferocity was like nothing I ever saw. I felt the fear his opponents felt during the staredowns and then the futile look of panic in their eyes as blows slammed into their heads and torsos with frightening, sickening explosive speed and power.

As I got older and learned more about boxing, I began to appreciate the technical soundness of his trade. The pinpoint head/upperbody movement, the tight compact punches thrown without any loading up and with maximum leverage, and the practically perfect punch selection during combinations that allowed him to capitalize on openings created by the punch preceding it.

Then as I witnessed Mike's decline I saw one hell of a chin in his noblest of losses(to Buster, Holyfield I, and Lewis) He took murderous shots until he could take no more.

On top of it all was the meteoric rise and fall out of the ring just as much as in it. Mike was just as destructive to himself as he was to his opponents. In his prime he was hell for any heavyweight who ever set foot in the ring and had the tools to beat them all. Who knows what he could have done had Cus D'amato stayed alive longer to continue guiding his quiet destroyer.

It's a well done video, but what always bothers me is that these Tyson highlight vids have little or no footge of his fights after prison.

Great video. I particularly liked the part early on, where the training footage of his head movement was cut with the in fight footage of it, awesome. The Cus bit was a bit cheesy but I still liked it.

The later parts do really show how much of a chin the guy had too. Some people say he won a lot of his fights by pure intimidation, and it's not hard to tell why when you watch him fight. Absolutely lethal at his best.

Another thing. Watching that then thinking of today's heavyweight division is truly depressing.

 I thought it was just me! I got reems and reems of Tyson footage. Theres hardly a clip video or picture of him i havent seen. I grew up on Iron Mike. He's the inspiration for one of tattoo's on my forearm. Thats my boy right there. No matter how many times i watch my collection of videos on Tyson which are vast it never ever gets boring. If dictionarys had pictures against them to describe a word Boxer would have Mike Tyson next to it. He was in my life time the closest iv seen to pugalistic perfection.

Awesome video. Tyson is completely different with Rooney. Not just because of Rooney himself, just that, when he left Rooney it marked the beginning of the end for different reasons.
