And why? There must be a reason you say Pac is that great. I would like to hear your arguments. Why should he be ranked above someone like Napoles for example?

 

Perhaps your new here, but Asero only gives input regarding Manny Pacquiao...even when he isn't relevant. He actually listed 23 fighters on this thread just so he could mention him. He's an idiot.

 

Everyone knows how absurd the notion of Pacquiao being more skilled than Napoles is, but in actuality Mantequilla's resume is far more stacked with quality fighters as well, and better fighters at the top if you want to get into it.

 

I don't consider Manny Pacquiao a special talent in terms of skills, to be honest. I think his hand speed (which is overrated), and power has got him out of trouble many a time.

I know you`ve never seen him as a having skills anywhere near guys like Whitaker but even you MUST appreciate the art & just how outright difficult it is to land at FMJs connect rate while taking fewer shots than anyone else in the sport... & this happens almost every time the guy steps in the ring.... that **** alone says his boxing skills are through the roof.

The fact that he has even fought as high as WWT is remarkable, its his SKILLS that enabled this.

As I said before, time will tell, lets see.

Good post, Im not disagreeing, Im just saying that he is one of the top 20 fighters I have seen enough footage of & a big part of that is because of how easily he has dominated opponents, due to being GOOD, thats all.

I think you sorely underrate his skills, just like Bill B. Just my honest opinion mate, which you shouldn't reject out of hand considering we argued till we were blue in the face over Duran for months and months, and now you agree with me on it to a large extent after combing through the great man's fights.

Pacquiao's skills are underrated for three main reasons I have found. A - he does not conform to the conventional notion of skills and slickness. B - he is aggressive, and for some reason many people seem to value that less than defensiveness when it comes to evaluating skillset. C - he still has the stigma attached to him of the raw and one-dimensional windmilling beast of 03-05.

I am not going to lapse into a characteristically long and boring dirge on Pacquiao's skillset, because I have very, very high hopes that after a virtuoso performance against Miguel Cotto, many many doubters will see the light. We don't have long to wait till the acid test. I fully anticipate Pac's ever-improving skills to shine like the stars that night - elusive movement, sophisticated footwork, blinding speed of hand and foot, wonderful variety to the punching, an awesome offensive arsenal, solid and dependable chin, and an iron will to win in the face of stern adversity.
