Fantastic article, Bunce. Great work - probably the best piece I've read about Valuev leading up to the Haye fight. It's so nice to see someone representing the way many have tried to dehumanise the big guy, and give a bit more light to how he feels about it.

I guess, ultimately, he's having the last laugh. two time world champion, millionaire and already planning for his future.

    Thanks for the great read.

  2. Superb article. That was a great read. Gives a good history to Valuev.

It's interesting to look at his record because 51 fights sounds collossal, but whilst most fighters have about 10 or so 'winnable' fights at the start of their careers, Valuev had about 30.

  4. Good work, Bunce.

"....There is even a story about Valuev going one-on-one with a wild pig and killing it with his hands...."

    Brilliant.

  5. Great little read that.

brilliant. Unlikely to find a sympathetic, almost inspiring portrait of Valuev anywhere else

Nice story. Love the image of Valuev tearing bears to pieces in the forests

Its a shame valuev is being portrayed as a giant beast as i actually genuinely respect the guy outside of the ring, seems like a nice bloke (bear killing aside)

As much as I am a fan of Haye there was really need for him to say the things he did. And the argument of getting bums on seats and getting to your opponent doesn't wash with me when you start using words like freak.

good article ,its good to see some level headed reporting .i apprciate haye has to "sell " the fuight however i really feel he has overstepped the mark, with his crass rude remarks.im no prude however he really needs to show some respect, and in some ways i do hope valuev beats him on saturday if that is what it takes to earn that respect .

the term Beast form the east " is also quite sad,as i always think a beast is another term for something a lot sicker and more disgusting .

    Quality article.

Shame as I really want Haye to destroy Valuev, but (apart from the hunting) he seems like a really nice guy.

I agree, sell the fight but there aint really any need for "he stinks" "he's a freak" "he looks like something out of a horror film" (alright that one did make me laugh!) everytime he speaks to the press
