why is the fight with martinez not at 154?

 

this question is the beginning of my many bad things to come, if williams destroys martinez, i GAURENTEE people are gonna use this reason why. so to the original poster, MOST people will respect him. the morons are gonna cry "WEIGHT CLASS" when if he dispatches him. he's gonna recieve the PBF treatment.

Agreed. Both Williams and Martinez are taking huge risks with this fight which is good to see and they both deserve respect for that. I definetly do not consider PW a top fighter yet though, he's never even made a title defense before and still has yet to prove himself. His guts in the 12th round against Margarito were amazing and he has the potential to be considered a top fighter within the next year. Same goes for Martinez, his performance against Bunema was simply amazing but Bunema isn't a top fighter. The Cintron fight was impressive as well, I think the general consensus was a 117-110 victory for Martinez. I just wish this fight was at 154 so we could have a clear champion in that division.

 

Cos PW was training towards a fight at 160 he didnt want to have to cut any more weight, it is on short notice and martinez might not have had time to get down to 154 if he hasnt been training so its easier for him

:huh Since when is a height advantage a guarantee for a win? Ever heard of Kingsley Ikeke at 160? He was 6'4" and a good boxer. Didn't win despite being much taller then everyone else. Celestino Caballero isn't undefeated at 122 either. Diego Corrales lost to Casamayor twice in three fights, who's a good 3-4 inches shorter. And Williams DID lose to Quintana, who's 3-4 inches shorter. Do you think Tye Fields, Lance Whitaker, Corrie T-Rex Sanders, Jameel McCline, Michael Grant, Valuez or klitschko are all undefeated because they were taller then all their opponents?

I agree his P4P ranking is a little ridiculous (then again...so is P4P).

 

if Paul losses to a man who was knocked out by Margarito it kinda confirms that his win over Margarito was a fluke and explains why he didnt want the immediate rematch.

 

Yea he deserves respect but I have a feeling Paul is going to be Winky Wright-ed if he wins.
