Nice little bit about he forums very own Tony Bellew in todays Boxing News, Warren talking about that fight sometime next year maybe, says it'll be like going back to Benn Eubank days etc. Also Tony looking quite dapper in the picture ha:good Apologies if this has already been posted.
My interest in the fight is definately building, but from a neutral perspective and forgetting for a second that Tony is a good lad and posts here... Cleverleys beaten Quigley, Oakey and Fry... Tonys not yet got any real names on the slate yet. He, despite his potential, is yet to establish himself as anything more then a novice prospect. Lets see him in with a Ajisafe, Oakey, Fry or the other liverpool light heavy... Then we'll get a better gauge of his potential and he'll add a bit more credance to his claims of being the better fighter. I think the fight could be massive and its a good sign that Warren is talking about matching them already. This kind of match up needs to happen more often to make boxing suceed domestically. :good
Tony comes across as a great lad and has always been quite complimentary about Clev, so have these been taken out of context or blown up? Until I read the article or hear from Tony I'm reserving judgement :deal
This is just to create a slow-burning rivalry I'd imagine. I can see Tony having 3-4 fights before he's thrown in with Clev. Saying that though, if he's demainding Cleverley behind closed doors, maybe it could happen sooner rather than later. I've no doubt Tony would go for it tomorrow if given the opportuinty.
Bellew needs to beat some fighters before he fights Clev or for a belt. This fight certainly has huge potential.
I do think Bellew has the skills, handspeed and power to force Cleverly (who has little defence) out of his gameplan and onto the canvas. Hopefully McIntosh next followed by Clev, but will fWank risk it?
I think it'd be a great fight - but i'd like to see it down the line once Bellew's added a few more names to his resume and Clev has gone even further on. It will happen!
