Classic forrums take on the Haye vs Valuev fight

i think haye should and probably will win but if valuev had a little bit more fighting smarts he could make it a rough and dissapointing night for haye.

 

Bull****, many foreign fighters won in Germany. There aren´t more dubious decision´s there than anywhere. Or have I to rmember you of the recent Froch-Dirrell disaster?


My take is Valuev by TKO in ten or eleven rounds.
Haye´s problem is that his biggest strength is compensated by the compensation of Valuev´s size (punching up takes some power away), chin and defense while his weaknesses (chin, defence, stamina) play partly right into the hands of Valuev. He isn´t a huge puncher and normally slaps but like Monte Barret said, if he wants to you feel that there are 300 pounds behind a punch. And Valuev has fantastic stamina.
I think Haye will be successful early on. He will use his speed to win the first 2-3 rounds and try to take out Valuev, perhaps Valuev even has to survive a scary moment but he will. Valuev in the meantime will box cautious, uses mostly his jab and mobility to stay away from Haye (don´t underestimate him there, his feets aren´t slower than Haye´s) while he will tie Haye up and lean on him when he comes near enough. This will tire out over the course of the fight. From the 4th/5th round on Valuev will do more and by the 10th/11th round Haye will be ready to go.

btw. if Haye manages to outbox Valuev and wins a decision I think he could be a force in the division. Right now I doubt it. A KO win wouldn´t impress me that much.

 

Well, I don´t know if it´s true but it sounds like Valuev. He is such a character. Very nice and humble person :good

 

Giving an 8-4 decision to the loser is 1 thing, giving a 12-0 domination to the loser is a complete other thing, judges at least need an excuse for a robbery.

I see Haye dominating this, a complete other league of speed, big power that lands continously may mean hes the 1 to take Valuev out. Valuev is also aging FAST and I feel this is the end for him. Ofcourse he could well catch Haye late

 

I think it all comes down to Haye's stamina and concentration. Valuev is not multi-dimensional at all, while I'm pretty sure Haye will try a more active version of the Holyfield strategy. Given that Haye is faster, rangier and slightly younger than Evander, I think he will win most of the rounds.

The issue will be that Valuev is methodical and while he isn't very powerful he is heavy-handed in the most literal possible sense. The deciding factor will be if Haye can concentrate and balance fighting safely with pacing himself.

I suspect it will be a slow, tactical fight, with Valuev being just a bit too slow and unrefined to take advantage of the moments when Haye gets wild or is vulnerable to attack.

Haye by decision is my bet.

 

I would like to hear Stonehands89's opinion on Haye going into this fight and in general.

 

Haye by T.K.O around 5 or 6 based on styles and size, maybe earlier. Fast hands and explosive sharp punches kill clumsy big men, no matter how much strength and durability they possess. Even if Valuev tags Haye (and as much as a stiff jab could do it) he doesn't have the coordination to finish him.

He's going to make it look easy (if he doesn't get tagged, which will extend the bout). I don't believe people fully appreciate how much styles and attributes favor Haye here.

 

If Valueav makes it to the final bell he should win.

Valuev should be the fave imo, the style match up is heavily against Haye on paper. I will rate it of a good measure if Haye wins this, i hope he does like.

 

How do you figure? Holyfield was slow as a sloth and he could still outspeed Valueav. Haye is a young guy with decent speed. Doesnt seem like it takes much more than speed and a little boxing ability to beat Valueav. I wouldnt be suprised what happened in the fight either way, but I dont see any clear favorite.
