Joe looked finished and could only work in spurts at 229lbs. He absorbed some head-snapping shots in it.
i posted a link to the fight...joe was active enough and had some moments but was too heavy and his punches lacked a lot of snap particularly the vaunted left hook...jumbo nearly ko'ed him 3 different times in that bout and really won the fight IMO...so it was def a gift draw for him
most fighters have got the style to get a draw or beat a half blind overweight shot ex-champ who is having his first in years
I guess the sarcasm wasn't laid thick enough for ya? And don't say you got it, or was being sarcastic yourself. No indication of that.
Frazier looked terrible in that fight. Even Muhammad Ali's performance against Trevor Berbick the same month, was better.
Frazier was a mere age 37 in 1981, but also rusty as a nail and a soft 229 pounds.... Cummings was chisled ( I forgot his weight) but coinsidered a mere club-fighter...... Cummings was youthful and full of **** and vinegar in 1981...... I have a rough copy... The draw was fair---enough........... The local paper stated that Frazier earned $80,000 dollars for that fight..... That's cheesy for Frazier......... Hell, a sick as a dog Ali earned "1" million for losing to Berbick in the Bahamas during that same time in December 1981......... Joe Frazier was gonna fight again in 1982 or 1983 against a former Canadian heavyweight champion, but the event fell apart......... MR.BILL
