Seems incredible to me that a Boxing Forum - on which you'd expect some folk to have at least a modicum of knowledge on the subject - are actually, by and large, a bunch of ignoramuses.
This is proven by the fact that, as of now, 60% of the voters in the poll haven't a clue about boxing.
That's right, just 40% have Cotto down to prevail by KO.
    God give me strength.

    God bless.

I hate that these 2 fighters are fighting each other, they are my 2 favorite fighters for several reasons. They never back down from a fight, they both make exciting fights, they are both fearless and push on to attack, never boring. They both have big hearts, and most of all, they're both humble and give their statements in the ring.

Questions that come to mind, Cotto I think for sure has the the heavier hand but will he be able to land flush against a fast moving target? Pacman may not be as strong but I do believe his punches will be more effective as he has the foundation from his stronger calves as he pushes his punches with them. His power comes from his calves and of those neck and shoulder muscles. He has 15 inch calves compare to 13 inches of Cotto. Not surprisingly though, they have the same neck size. If these two fighters punch from a complete wind-up, they probably have similar punching power. The difference, Pac's punches will not be as strong during the fight because he throws in bunches and doesn't wind-up as far back than most. This is his disadvantage as he can demoralize the opponent with constant pressure. He then can sense when the opponent is in trouble and go for the kill. I believe he is more technical than most think.

Cotto on the other hand is like a raging bull prepared to take a few punches to throw his powerful hook.not many has been succesful to defend him with this style. But this style is not effective against fast fighters because he gets in a defensive posture to attack with his hands up high to cover his face mainly against straight hooks and straight punches. There maybe a problem with this. You can't see much with this posture, and with Pacman's speed going left to right, he'll have to think twice. Pacman seems to have mastered splitting the guards. Look at his fights against Barrerra, Davide Diaz, and De La Hoya, these 3 fighters in particular have high guards similar to Cotto. The problem is, they can't seem to close the gap fast enough to completely cover their faces and Pac somehow threads the needle and lands his punch. Another disadvantage for this high guard is you leave yourself open for an uppercut or blows on the chin. The only most effective defense in combination to the high guard is a counter jab. On the pacquiao side though, he can feint an attack, move to the left side and throw and overhand to the side of the head, assuming Cotto will be on his orthodox stand. When I deeply analyze their style and power, I can not see Cotto winning under normal circumstances.

Don't get me wrong, Cotto have one thing on his side, lucky punch, if he catches Pacman on a perfectly timed power punch and follows through, he just may surprise me.
I am basing my analysis from what I have seen on their previous fights, who knows, Cotto may have changed, he had 1 month more of training than Pacman. Only they know if they came up with a secret weapon against Pacman.

Finally, my prediction... Putting all the information I have read from the mdia and interviews and such, I have a feeling Cotto team will try to implement a countering fight against Pacman basing what they have seen on the pacquiao Marquez fight. This is a mistake, Pacquiao is not the same as he was then, He learned how to defend and counter. His knockouts against Hatton were Counter punches, he did not initiate those attacks. He moves forth and bounces back right away. He attack from more angles making it difficult where to counter. I see Pacman systematically breaking Cotto down, but I see him doing it fast. A demoralized fighter will go down faster than a fighter full of confidence. I predict it will not go past the 10th round, KO or TKO.

im going with cotto, pac does not belong at welter, im sure you can mix and match him with certain guys and he can get a win, but not cotto.nahh it aint happening, im going with cotto by tko late rds.

Well I love that these 2 are fightin each other.:yep It all depends on how Manny takes Cotto's shot. I think he will struggle and in the 4th or 5th cotto takes over and ends it late.

I respect that...but I would like to hear why you think Pac is too strong and fast for the Bigger and more prime fighter Cotto @ Cotto's weight of Welterweight, but he wasnt too strong and fast vs an older Marquez at their weight of lightweight? Cotto has many more offensive tools than Marquez and is much stronger.....your opinion is thought up without thought:think
