And Haye started something like a 2/1 favorite. Guess the hype goes out the window when fight night comes around. Anyways I will drop a bet on Haye because I do think he is good enough to beat the big lump but I am not surprised to see the odds shorten like this and I'm glad I waited.
Yeah, it's a good moment to place a bet on Haye. The odds usually become more even on the day of the fight. That's why I placed my small bet on Valuev KO some time ago.
valuev pts. dont think haye can knock him out, and they're fighting in germany. so haye will need three knock downs to get a draw
You can get Haye at evens here in the UK, with Valuev at 11/10. Haye stoppage 13/5 Haye points 16/5 Valuev stoppage 11/4 Valuev points 7/2 That's as close as I can remember for any big fight. Haye started around the 1/2 mark..... seems a lot has gone on Valuev - probably due to the weigh-in, and the fact that Sky TV (who are showing the fight) are telling everyone it is almost mission impossible for Haye.
:yep Not sure that is in Haye's mindset though. If he senses he is behind he will go hell for leather and most likely get stopped late. Hopefully my other bets on various sports today come in for me, then whatever I decide to go for in this fight is a bet to nothing. My gut instinct is Haye by stoppage, I don't buy the excuse that Valuev was taking it easy vs Holyfield, and he looked **** in the Ruiz rematch as well.
I can't see Haye losing this fight. Even though it's in Germany there's so much money invested in Haye becoming champ and challenging a Klitschko that I think it's Valuev who would have to get the KO to win. The German judges may prove me wrong, but I wouldn't wager a dime on Valuev. His 15 minutes are up as far as the boxing business is concerned.
There's a rumor of Don King's options on Valuev expiring and having options on Haye now, so you're guess might be right who the judges would prever. But I'd never say "German judges" are behind Valuev's shitty decisions, it all started when Don King got involved with Niko, so if he jumps on the Haye train, expect a close decision going his way. The only question is what Sauerland has to say about that IF there's a conflict of interests.

The fact is Valuev is one of the worst title holder we've seen in years. He got a gift decision over Holyfield and he lost to Chagaev, which means that he isn't even a champion. The guy had to go to abitration hearing just to retain his belt. He's pathetic. If Haye can't beat him he has no business at heavyweight.
Haye agreed to Sauerland (and King I think) having options over him when he signed for this fight. It was a no-lose situation really. Outside of signing with Frank Warren, his sworn enemy, he doesn't have his Setanta TV deal anymore (they went bust) so why not pursue this route? He isn't an uneducated guy, this deal is most likely carries less obligations than the one he was signing with K2 - with Sauerland looking to break into the UK market also....... it makes sense for him to have German connections with most of the other elite names in the division being based there.
