Chad Dawson is good but something is missing

Dawson is a very good fighter but he does tend to lay back when he knows he's ahead on points. I don't see the so called killer instinct in him. Only my opinion though.

 

Dawson is more hype than byte.
he clearly won (this time) BUT why in the hell did he run and bike so much against an almost 41 year fighter?

He is NOT the next great LHW.

 

Anybody who just sees Dawson as "good" is ******ed. Chad is a legit top 10 P4Pder. Its amazing how Paul Williams, and David Haye get thier nuts licked on this forum, yet Dawson is constantly underrated.

Dawson is a better fighter than Paul Williams, yet everybody on this forum has thier mouth around Paul's *****.

 

The only thing that's missing is Dawson cleaning out the LHW division.

 

He has no fire in him. No passion. He looks bored when he fights. There is not competitive glean to his eye or relish.

yeah, you hear that from HBO guys but not so much from anybody else. Dawson is smooth when you allow him to be, but he gets ruffled under pressure. He can be hit. He's not particularly powerful, quick or elusive. He's not bad, but he's not great. He's just better than average, that's about it. Nothing to be ashamed of, but nothing to get excited about either.

 

yeah right lol... Dawson is better than a guy who throws 900 punches a round, who has power when he wants to sit down on his punches, and who ALWAYS comes to fight and always looks for the best available competition. I would say Dawson and Haye (as a heavyweight) are comparable, but a cruiserweight Haye was much more exciting than Dawson.

i think chad is gonna be special...he dont have that killer instinct but the kid is gifted point blank....cmon he beat adamek who is now campaigning at hw....he looked sloppy against tarver but didnt really look motivated...he beat both easily in the seconds fights and there really isnt anyone bringing money to the table at lhw because they wont fight him....roy couldve fought him and so could bernard but they both ducked him going for easier opponents.....i think the pascal fight will be good but i see dawson winning easily....i think the only comp for him would be in the lower division but i dont really see anyone from the super 6 or 168 beating him either and yea he beat johnson who is 40 years old but he is hell for anyone in that division not named dawson

 

dawson also has power when he sits down on his punches....what u want him to stand there and trade and get knocked the **** out...paul williams can do that cuz everyone is smaller than him...and please tell me what power paul has shown since koing quintana(who for some reason stood there and tried to slug ) and some bum at 160....for god sakes he couldnt knock out a washed up wrong weight class verno phillips

 

Dawson is a hell of a talent. Who has ever stopped Tarver and Johnson?

 

He is a very good fighter, great athlete, he just seems to lack "it." Not a knock on him, as I think he has established himself as one of the top, if not the top guy at 175, but something just isn't there.

 

Dawson's one of the better fighters in the sport today, but I doubt he'll ever be considered a truly great lhw in the grand scheme of things.

 

That's because Calzaghe is not aging. He's an elf and using that as an advantage.

 

only thing he needs is time, he's only 27 and he's been in with some of the best in the division....and i think he showed alot of improvements in schooling Johnson the way he did, just give the man time to perfect his tools and talents
