Even though Flash had a terrible recent record, the little bugger can bang a bit and is very experienced. He had been over matched.

All due respect to Livanos, but Dean had only had 6 fights and we got a look at him against Percy Sampson in his last fight.

He wasn't ready for Villacura Kegs.

We're trying to get Seran or Olartes for heath Ellis on Dec 20. Lets see if they take it.

Seran would be bad news for Heath Ellis

Full credit to the Bohol team in getting Villacura & Seran in tip top shape to defeat there favoured Aussie foes.

I dont think Ellis's team will go near Seran now after that win, but i hope they do.
Would be a terrific fight which Seran would certainly be a live underdog.

Amusing trip to the airport yesterday Balders - Steve Marshall says "I heard this bizarre conversation last night, some bloke says to his mate I need to buy a ticket and sneak in when H or Pat aren't around" There is a moments silence and then Pat who is driving us says describe what he looks like which Mr Marshall being an astute bloke does.... to a T! Cue another short silence followed by "****ing Baldeen!" Busted pal!!! :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Watched it at my house Phil. I don't know who Steve Marshall is (might recognise his face, heard the name)

This is all very "fugitive" like. :hat

Seriously Phil, I wasn't there. Watched it at home with the two boys fighting in Bris in two weeks.

What were the scorecards at time of stoppage? I scored rds 1 and 5 for Ruiz with the 6th even.

I think I had 68-66 Asiku after seven. How did that card compare?

A little bit off, not much though. Giving Ruiz 2 and 1 drawn rounds was a tad generous IMO. He was always in the fight but was only winning about a minute of a round. One judge had 2 drawn rounds, one gave him 1 round and the other had one drawn round

No arguments with those cards. Always sensed Asiku was going to pull away with the fight though. As I said before, up until the 8th, Asiku controlled every part of the fight, but I still thought the crucial "punches landed" stat was fairly even, Asiku getting the nod in more rounds.

Which I suppose is a hard one for a judge to decipher. Is it confusing Phil when you have a fighter not controlling a round, not the stronger guy, not the better anything...but still landing his fair share of punches? how do you score that?

Well it can keep him in the contest mate but from the way you have described it you'd have to say the other guy has landed his fair share which given what else has happened would give him the round. Sometimes it's hard to continually go against one bloke who is trying but getting no-where, one judge remarked he was pleased that the fight ended inside the distance as it would have been unfair for Heriburto to have lost such a lop-sided decision given the effort he put in had the fight continued on it's course. You can't however score "mercy" or "sympathy" rounds as it then affects your credibility to score it the rightway always under all conditions. Kind of like Hatton-Lazcano, considering how gamely he tried he never did enough to win a round under the rules of scoring IMO because you can't give a bloke a round for winning only 30 seconds of it no matter how well he went in that time without scoring a knockdown. All judges in this situation are thinking "oh please sweet Jesus let the other judges be seeing this the same way!" LOL The other thought that went through my mind was "Oh, I bet Baldeen is gunna love this!" LMAO

LOL. Nice to know I was part of your inner most thoughts whilst you sat ringside to judge Hatton/Lazcano in front of 40,000 people.

Pertinent points you mention there. I note you do allude to ring generalship as being a criteria for scoring a round

quote: "you'd have to say the other guy has landed his fair share which given what else has happened..."

And that seems to be accepted everywhere. I mean their is other considerations other than punches landed.

Interestingly enough, we had a meeting with a number of nsw boxing authority officials around 2 years ago... about interpretations of scoring etc etc (we felt we couldn't get a decision). Gary Dean specifically stated that a fight is scored simply on punches landed, nothing else. He specified that power isn't a factor, it's simply a tally of punches and if fighter A lands two punches, to fighter B's one heavy punch...then fighter A is in front.

He couldn't have been more definate about his interpreation of how to score a round. Ring generalship and other intangibles like effective aggression weren't appropriate in his opinion.

So I guess he has a very basic principle of scoring. It might be the best system at the end of the day. But it's obviously a lot more narrow than most judges interpretation of effective scoring. Which makes things a little confusing. Scoring is such a subjective thing, no doubt, but you would like to atleast think that every judge uses the same criteria or principles. Doesn't seem to be the case. Anyway...my rant for the day. I might have another one later. :think

No not at all, I was referring to the scenario you mentioned. The most important criteria is punches landed, if equal effective aggression, if equal better defence. Some judges do include power as a criteria which I disagree with as it discriminates against a light hitter
