He does sprint training in the evening, which you can tell cause he's an explosive fighter.

I'd be surprised if he did NO long distance road work.

No wonder his stamina sucks. And im a Haye fan. Even he says himself he likes to get guys out early and isnt sure about doing 12 rounds. You would think he would improve a great deal if he did even 3 days a week running.

    - He must have worked on his cardio because no-one who just ignores their cardio goes and accomplishes what he achieved last night.

    - His stamina last night was excellent in some way.

Really? I heard something like how he did a power walk at 2:00 AM on Friday. I don't see how he doesn't do any roadwork though. He was in great shape and he wasn't winded at all.

Haye proved he the truth from South Bermondsey, the guy has stuck with Booth for 12 years when he could have been trained by any coach in the world. Im proud of you Haye, but you could have knocked that bum out and make him do the chicken dance much earlier. LOL

Slow jogging for miles and miles is a waste of time for boxers. The only reason many still do it is because others before them did it and so on.

The more enlightened like David Haye do more EFFECTIVE staminia training

I didn't hear this, but I'm not that surprised. He strikes me as a progressive fighter. Roadwork is totally unsuited for the physical demands of boxing and should only ever be employed to give an aerobic base (sparingly). High intensity interval work would be far more suited to the demands of boxing. Good examples of this are Holyfield's 3 minute drills (designed by Hatfield I believe). Remember when he was getting murdered by Bowe in the 10th round of their first encounter and came back to life ? I have never seen anybody display such remarkable conditioning in the face of such adversity. He did not get this by doing roadwork.

400m runners do no roadwork either but their level of conditioning is outstanding by just about any measure. Plodding for 5-6 miles is unlikely to improve your sports performance that much (unless you are training for a road race). More boxers should wake up to this.......

I agree. In boxing you need a different kind of stamina. What is the best thing that replicates boxing? Answer is sparring and hitting the bags, pads etc. He's not training for a marathon.

I don't do any long distance running myself. A couple of years ago all I was doing was skipping rope. The first time I stepped onto a treadmill I was able to run 5 miles easy.

Nothing beats sparring, doing 12 three minute rounds on the heavy bag would also be a lot better than running I'd say.

Its been known for years that Haye hates roadwork, I'd guess the amount he does would be inbetween "little" and "none".
