Fair enough, at least you can back up your scoring, i disagree totally with you but that boxing i suppose. I think you overrate the amount of jabs that valuev landed, he didn't seem to land really that many at all to me, sure haye wasn't doing a great amount but when he was clearly outscoring valuev for me when he threw his punches and was making valuev miss with almost everything he threw. As for your point about 1 or 2 jump in a round being enough to take the rounds, if valuev landed nothing in that one then yes for me it would. It was boring to watch last night but haye made him miss and all to occasionlly made him pay, but did it just enough to get the decision in my opinion
So you are suggesting there is an element of doubt? In which case boxing tradition should give Valuev an edge, and perhaps Haye another crack, where he could show himself truly superior to the giant Russian.
I had it as a narrow but unambiguous win for Haye but he didn't show me what I wanted to see or expected to see. Somtimes you get the outcome wrong but get the fight right like if you picked Jermain Taylor to outpoint Carl Froch. This is an ocasion where I got the outcome right but got the fight wrong. Haye is now the WBA champion and as such a figure to be reckoned with on the heavyweight scene. Whether he is going to be the man to bring some excitment to the heavyweight scene or not is hard to say.
One thing it did show and what I suspected is Haye is a fighter whose actions dont back up his big mouth. Usually the guys that talk the most do the least. He probably wont get past Ruiz.
Valuev landed more than you claim, he landed a handful of jabs per round not in the fight, and there were a good few rounds where, I watched in HD. However he did miss most of what he threw. Haye threw about 3-5 power shots per round, and didnt always land all of them. In terms of who landed more shots most the rounds were very very close and could have gone either way. In terms of aggression it was all Valuev, defense all Haye, although Valuev blocked a good few. It really was a pitifull fight which made Floyd Mayweather look like Rocky Balboa, and a poor poor showing from Haye, hes lucky to win the title, he could have easily thrown 10-20 power shots per round on the backfoot but he was either too scared to open up or didnt have the ability. I had it 8-4 haye, but if it went to Valuev I wouldnt complain, Haye did less against Valuev than Dirrell did against Froch
What a stupid statement, Ruiz is tailormade for Haye, Ruiz can't handle speedy boxers and can be KO'd by punchers, and now Ruiz is past his prime. Shitty showing from Haye but Valuev is a stylistic nightmare, Ruiz is not
The fight was awful. Valuev looked as if he lost a half a step, and he was already slow to begin with. Haye lost whatever credibility he had as crowd pleasing puncher. I wonder if this is how Haye is going to fight when he's matched with anyone with some power. Probbaly. The fight could be scored either way, but why should we care? Haye won the majority decision in the eyes of the judges, but this is they type of fight where both fighters should go down a peg in the rankings, and in the estimation of the fans. A 46 year old Holyfield looked much better vs. Valuev than Haye did. The irony here is Valuev, who has been on the end of some questionable calls finally had one go against him in Germany. I almost wonder if the fix was in here. If Valuev retires, there is a real chance this stinker was a prearranged affair. And what's worse. It appears John Ruiz, who entered the ring in less than stellar shape and almost lost on cuts will get the winner. Nothing could be worse as a boxing fan then seeing Ruiz take back the WBA crown, with Don King lining up his opponents. If Ruiz vs. Haye happens, Haye better win. I'd like to see Haye fight either Klitschko, but we know he's afraid of taking that risk. AH, WBA heavyweight boxing. It should stand for Why Box Anyways.
Valuev's punches fell short all night, and Haye's landed precisely and hard. At the midway point on the German broadcast the punch stats were given and Haye was at around 45% and Valuev at just 15% - these are the kind of stats that Mayweather gets...that's a seriously good 'hit and not get hit' going on. In absolute terms Haye had also apparently outlanded Valuev by that stage by 10. Missed punches count for absolutely nothing. At best they might be counted if they set something up for you (e.g. like Abraham sometimes does with a soft hook to set up the next shot). Valuev just missed! As far as I'm aware there is no consideration for aggression for the sake of it. It is effective aggression only. Walking forward and missing is not effective in any way so it cannot be given in Valuevs favour merely due to the fact that he was going forward. Haye fought Valuev's fight? If by that you mean allowing Valuev to walk forward slowly and hit thin air, then yes I agree. But I don't really, as fighting Valuev's fight would be staning in front of him and getting KOed. Haye kept moving so that Valuev could not set his feet. Valuev chased the elusive Haye so was forced to fight a cat and mouse game, i.e. Haye's fight in this particular circumstance. As boring as Holyfield v Valuev was, that was another case of Valuev being forced to play cat and mouse and barely landing becuase of it. Nik's footwork is so slow that it is clearly effective to prevent him from setting his feet by continually moving. This is what Haye did, Valuev had no choice but to follow....and miss. I'm glad we agree on something. For the record, I thought Dirrell beat Froch, and I don't believe a champion should have an advantage in scoring.
boring fight haye did not do enough but then all valuev just ploded forward and landed little it could of gone either way from my point of view although i had haye just edging it, i found this fight as boring as wlads last fight
atsch One bad fight against a guy whose never been in an entertaining fight in his life results in Haye losing all credibility, alright that's perfectly fair I guess Tyson wasn't crowd pleasing either because of the Bonecrusher fight.
You can't believe anything Haye says in the run up to a fight. One thing he is verry good at is misinformation and misdirection with regard to his condition and strategy.
This is closer to my score. Haye ran - that was not boxing, it was running. Valuev was at least trying to make a fight of it landed far more, even if they were just jabs to the body, neck, shoulders. Horrible fight, and rip-off decision.
